I'm getting occasional "cannot read disc" errors playing
dvds on my ps2.  It's just under a year old.  I've heard
this is a common problem.  Should I bring it back?

My local Game has suddenly dropped its stock of used PS1 games down to a
fraction of previous supplies. There used to be 3 wire racks heaving with games,
now there is only one rack that is around 2/3rds full at best.
There's a stand with new titles but that's the usual tat like ...

I notice that Game has recently altered its 10 day returns policy to exclude
PC software and console hardware. Sounds a bit shitty to me - the main
rationale for paying premium prices was the option to return crap
games/hardware.

What's the situation now on mod-chips? Can you easy get golden DVD games?

Can anyone please tell me if the PAL version of FF X and X-2 have a 60 Hz
mode ? If they don't, I'll have to grab the US version.

I bought a second-hand PS2 fitted with a Ripper Gold 2 chip and I find the
console much more noisy than my Gamecube or my Dreamcast. The fan is rather
noisy but the worst is the DVD player which is *very* noisy. It's an

This game is extremely creepy, much more than the first outing.  Cutscenes are
excellent, some of them normal cutscenes, others with a grey, grainy effect.
The creepiest part is when you are just walking down a corridor and you will get
a very quick 2 second cutscene/flashback event ...
