I suspect this whole screwed up patch-them-as-they-break-for-3-years
half-assed approach will turn into a demand for a total product

I remember reading about a problem with the PS3 displaying 1080i on tv's
that don't do 720p.  Is this correct? Did any of the updates fix this
problem? A friend of mine picked up his father a PS3 for when his grandkids
visit and he can't get anything but 480p to be displayed even ...
