The Odious Wehrmacht31 Dec 2003 00:49 GMT146
I sometimes find quite repellant in works of WWII military history,
the extent to which self-serving lies by Wehrmacht generals are
accepted & obscure the fact that the Wehrmacht as an institution was
deeply f.cked-up.
Any good North African Operation game after W@W-OC?30 Dec 2003 06:44 GMT6
I was waiting for something like this after playing "Airbrone Assault
- Red Devils Over Arnhem", when I saw the map for Operation
Battleaxe/Crusader. Too bad, I heard that they are going after Bludge
instead. I am aware of Torbuk '41 but I did not get into it very deep.

and will it come with copy protection that makes it unfeasible to use with
a laptop on the go?
Empires in Arms due to release...29 Dec 2003 06:01 GMT6
As you may know, in the next few weeks the new computer version of
the classic "Empires in Arms" (Napoleonic warfare on a strategic scale) is
due to come out. Of course, the manufacturer says it will be the greatest
thing since sliced bread. ;-)   I'd be real interested to hear ...
Across the Dneiper-best wargame ever?29 Dec 2003 03:09 GMT5
Until I can get more time (my son's wife arrives today and I will get
my computer back....) to go into details of the game I am playing now,
let me make this considered statement: Across the dnepr (requires
Korsun Pocket) is hands down the best operational wargame I have ever

Matrix -  Shipping charges27 Dec 2003 08:29 GMT60
Well I was going to purchase Highway to the Reich from Matrix, despite
their appalling exchange system with AA - until I saw their shipping
charges. $49.99 for the game and $39.95 to ship to Europe and with the
implied threat of adding taxes to that sum. The age of the $100 game
CMAK / CMBB gridlines?27 Dec 2003 04:56 GMT2
At one point, I had a mod for CMBO that printed a contour grid over the
terrain.
Is there a similar product available for CMBB/CMAK?  The desert maps,
particularly, are difficult to appraise tactically without plotting each
Across the Dnepr and Highway to the Reich26 Dec 2003 14:47 GMT6
Two great games, especially for fans of maneuver warfare. I got HTTR
on Friday and downloaded Across the Dnepr today. I have an AAR of
sorts for an HTTR scenario on the Matrix forums site (when you wnat to
move a division, make sure you click on the right HQ...), and I have
How to install TOAW-WOTY under Win XP26 Dec 2003 12:03 GMT4
I still have one game running under WOTY, but after upgrading to Win
XP (a clean install), I find I am unable to install the program from
the CD.  When I try to install it immediately takes me back to the
desktop.
Importing Maps to TOAW2?25 Dec 2003 19:00 GMT2
Am very curious, as I have been designing some basic scenarios (Mostly
"Brushfire" wars in Africa), but am about to start a much larger project,
Larry Bond's "Cauldron", updated a bit to 2003.
The thought of designing all the European maps from scratch is daunting, and

Recommend game24 Dec 2003 03:10 GMT22
Looking for something along the lines of Panzer General, but more
modernized.  Either turn or real-time, more or less historically accurate,
and fun without a ton of micromanagement.  Thanks.
AH's Stalingrad for XP23 Dec 2003 13:03 GMT1
I am trying to play an old game from AH called Stalingrad that came
out in around 94.  I am having problems with stabilty, where the
program crashes part way through the first round of the scenarios.  I
am using XP to play the game.
