Civ 4: Praise for the game theme song (played in opening FMV also).31 Oct 2005 22:02 GMT17
I personally find it fantastic.  So much so that I dedicated a thread
to it.  Feel free to comment on the rest of the music here.  I just
really like the opening song.  Does, for me, put in mind that one is
getting to something really good here.
Civ4 Graphics level settings31 Oct 2005 19:39 GMT7
I am trying to set the graphics level to low in Civ4, but the settings don't
take effect until you reload the game. Guess what - when I reload the game,
the old settings are back, and it's set on high level graphics.
I'm thinking it's some kind of default setting for my machine, ...
End of an era 2: Reselling software may be illegal31 Oct 2005 16:37 GMT19
Check this article out:

Yep, in some licensing agreements, it is forbidden.  There is going to
be lawsuits over this coming out.  This is a possible reason why EB did
Civ IV tile display bug?31 Oct 2005 14:43 GMT5
Okay, minor problem compared to what some are having, but still bugs me.
I can't turn off the display of bread/hammers/coins on the map tiles.
Whether I click on the toggle, or hit CTRL-Y as the tooltip indicates
makes no difference, nothing happens.
How about Imperialism I instead of Civ4 ...31 Oct 2005 12:49 GMT2
Since I've decided to wait before getting Civ4 and see what all you
guys make of it, I dusted off an old favourite yesterday and
reinstalled Imperialism I (my favourite of the two). Now, I used to
play this game when I didn't mind having a CD in my drive (maybe
Is Civ IV turn based or RTS30 Oct 2005 23:08 GMT4
From all the reviews, reading the box, looking on the site, and what folks
are posting here I can't tell if the game is a real turn based game or just
a RTS with a Pause mode.  Is it a true turn based game like the other civs
or is a RTS?
Has any game ever had an emergency patch?30 Oct 2005 15:45 GMT17
Like for a really bad bug which renders the game unplayable?
I ask because The Sims 2 essentially has a bug of this caliber. It
doesn't show up at first, but after a couple weeks of playing, it gets
to the point where sims cannot do anything that involves chatting with
Civ 4 Weirdness -- White Screen of Death29 Oct 2005 20:18 GMT1
I more than meet the recommended spects for Civ4. I installed it and
began playing. It ran *incredibly* slowly, much more slowly than I'd
expect. I quite, restarted my computer, and tried to restart the game.
Whenever I do, right after the load game screen, my scree turns half
civ IV - installation impressions29 Oct 2005 11:35 GMT7
That's right, installation impressions. hehe.  Mostly technical
comments.  Have played the game for a couple hours so a few notes on the
actual game too.
First off, I have the 'special edition' which came at no extra cost due
Those Krazy Koreans!!29 Oct 2005 07:30 GMT19
Does gaming addiction get this bad in the States?  Do they have figures
breaking things down by country?

If addiction is so unusually high in S. Korea, why is that?  I'm not
Civ4 Ati Radeon 9600 no go29 Oct 2005 02:31 GMT4
Have DirectX 9C. Uploaded newest ATI drivers. Game doesn't like my video
card.
How is Civ4 if you only liked Civ1?29 Oct 2005 01:05 GMT6
Civ2 and Civ3 didn't do anything for me.  I was hopelessly addicted to
Civ1.  Part of the reasons I didnt go for Civ2 and Civ3 were that I
found a "3d" map was difficult to play on compared to the 2d map.  I
have had this problem in other strategy games as well, for example
Hostile Waters28 Oct 2005 00:22 GMT3
Morning all
Does anyone remember this game from about 4-5 years back..?
How did you find it at the time - does it hold up well today?
I've already looked through a number of sites - but I'm interested in
Civ IV as far away from Civ I, II, and III as you can get27 Oct 2005 17:12 GMT2
After playing for 48+ hours... Civ IV is far different than the
previous Civs in terms of scope -- fewer cities, more choices, smaller
scale in terms of the "game board", even on huge.
Two different animals -- some people may play Civ III *and* Civ IV and
Return Civ4 special edition?27 Oct 2005 17:11 GMT4
I bought Civ4 special edition.  I just opened it a few seconds ago.  I
got it from GameStop and it was shrink wrapped.
Looks like fantastic packaging.  Anyways, the CD jacket that houses the
game has a blemish in it.  It looks like someone pried open the right
