I have a question about the command limitations in the original Hearts
of Iron games (I am playing version 1.06).
Here's the example - let's say I have a Field Marshall (who can command
12 units) and he's in charge of the division of 12 units.  Then there's

I have the Collectors' Edition of Disciples II: Dark Prophecy, which
has 5 extra "elite" quests. I also have Guardians of the Light,
Servants of the Dark and Rise of the Elves.
So I've ignored the Gold edition thus far, assuming that it's just a
Thank you for the advice (re turn based squad games)22 Jul 2005 02:25 GMT3
Thanks,

I thought I should say thanks for the advice I was given.
In response I have posted a list of the games recommended that are cheap

HELP - Constructor by Acclaim21 Jul 2005 00:44 GMT1
I recently found constructor hiding under my desk the other day and really
fancied playing on it. However, becuase its a silly dos game it wont seem to
work on XP. I found a patch that will allow it to work on 95 but not XP.
Anyone any idea on how to get it working on XP??
Were going to be strategy gaming like it is 1999!20 Jul 2005 15:01 GMT15
Egads, is the PC strategy gaming season THIS dry?  I am seeing games
dating back to 1999 people are trying to run on XP, and stuff at least
a year old.

HOMM 3: How difficult?20 Jul 2005 14:57 GMT7
I've noticed a lot of people here recommending HOMM 3 to those asking
for newbie games. However, when I checked Gamespot, it listed the game
as difficult. Did the expansions allow you to keep the campaign
setttings at Easy or even Idiot Mode? :)

Dark Legions by SSI on XP?18 Jul 2005 23:37 GMT2
I found this old favorite sitting on a shelf in my room. I am trying to
get it to run on my XP Home edition.
Has anybody had any luck with this DOS game? I see DOS4GW.exe in it's
folder, so assume it wants to use that?
Soaked!16 Jul 2005 16:22 GMT3
I was wondering why there was no talk about the RCT3 addition
'Soaked'... recently released.
I was looking forward to it, but now I wonder.
Glest (open source RTS)15 Jul 2005 18:14 GMT8
I'm normally a TBS-kinda guy, except for Kohan, but I have been having
quite a bit of fun with Glest, an open-source 3D RTS for Windows and Linux.
It's the usual tech-tree, harvest, conquer type of WC3-style game, but it's
fairly good, especially for a completely free game. It is ...
