best mouse?29 May 2004 02:06 GMT33
I have been using a Microsoft Optical Wheel mouse.  The ergonomics were
not perfect, but it was a light mouse and had fairly good responsiveness.
It tracks a bit when you pick it up, so you have to raise it higher than a
ball mouse where basicly all you do is take pressure off the ...
Pentiun III 1.13Ghz vz Celeron 1.4Ghz29 May 2004 01:07 GMT15
I have an old dell dimension 4100 that I'm doing some upgrades so it
can last me a few more years. After upgradind hard drive to an 80GB
and the Video Card to a Radeon 9200SE, I think the one last thing I
can upgrade without major investment is the CPU. I currently have a
Anyone have a Raedon 9200 128mb?29 May 2004 00:46 GMT3
I bought one and it had a heat sink, but no fan. My puter was crashing
during particularly intense battle scenes in a FPS combat flight sim
(Yager) that I traced to the video card over-heating. I've ordered an
auxiliary fan for the card. Does anyone have a 9200 that came with a

Thief3 bug?28 May 2004 08:22 GMT4
Anyone else have it play in super fast motion?  It only happens ever know
and then (actually more so then not), but all the animations (torch
flickereing, walking, creeping etc) are *really* fast. It's almost like
playing an old Dos game that would need Slo-Mo.   *Wonders to himself ...
Sound card upgrade for performance boost?28 May 2004 08:14 GMT9
I've just doubled my ram and upgraded my graphics card to give my 3 year old
computer a few more years of usefulness, and I'd like to do the same with
the audio card as I've discovered that it, too can have an effect on game
performance.
compare Dell Dimension 8300 with "game machine"?28 May 2004 07:30 GMT10
My old Dell dimension is too slow, so I am planning to get a bland new
system. I pretty much have decided on the graphic card (ATI X800 Pro)
and monitor (IBM 22" C220P) and CPU (P4 3GHZ), and Audigy
2/512MB/120GB/DVD-RW, but in terms of the overall machine I am still
Thief 3 opinion28 May 2004 05:46 GMT4
It's too expensive.
Went to buy it today, saw 2 games I was excited about 4 months ago now at
$24.99, bought those instead.  Sorry Thief 3 but I'm a cheapskate, I'll buy
you in 4 months or so.
Flat Panel Screens and Action Games27 May 2004 21:49 GMT12
Are there any flat panel screens that are suitable for use with action games
or do they all smear?
What is the maximum response time that is acceptable? Dell has a 20 inch
unit with a 16 ms response time, but it's like $900.

Freedom Fighter27 May 2004 12:06 GMT11
I picked up this game used for $7 last weekend and I'm having a blast with
it. I'm really surprise that this game didn't get very much attention when
it came out. The graphics are fantastic, the character animation is great
(ragdoll physics and all) The gameplay is a lot of fun. ...
The start of a new game.....27 May 2004 08:18 GMT2
I love the moment when I first load up a new game and I enter the game world
for the first time. Everything's new and unfamiliar, I don't know where I am
or what's around the next corner or over that hill. I don't know any cheat
codes or tricks or AI behaviour loopholes.
Alien Trilogy - Tech help requested.27 May 2004 00:22 GMT4
Background: I had an old PC that I ran my favourite games on - Alien
Trilogy, Die Hard, Indiana Jones, The Dig etc. etc. That old PC died,
so I xfer'd those games to my new(er) PC, not without problems. Most
of which I've got around, but Alien Trilogy is giving me serious
