I remember not too long ago seeing a webpage online where a guy was
taking his old 8-bit Nintendo and turning it portable with a soldering
iron and a few parts from Radioshack.  I've begun working on it
myself, but his webpage solved some of the problems I'm encountering

my "Advance Wars" cart's battery seems to be dead and it's KILLING me
