I've seen a few gold guides and they weren't worth a hoot.  Anyone tell me

A few minutes ago, I tried taking on a level 26 silver, with my level 24
Warrior, and only after a minute's fighting or so did I realize that he
was a silver elite. Another mob (non-elite, thankfully) joined the
fight, and I ended up dead.

I've been doing a bit of theory crafting with regards to lethality and
it seems rubbish to me.  This is from stats gathered using SW stats
only in BGs as I'm not interested in PvE at the moment.

Reading all the day on this newsgroup I found out that many terms that
you folks use are a real mistery for me. Would you kindly explain me
meanings for the following terms pls?

On my server (Mischa - US), the AH prices for higher level herbs has
gone through the roof in the past few weeks - a stack of Mountain
Silversage can sell for 50-60g. This is nearly double what it was
earlier. Similar increases for other high level herbs as well.
