assassin's creed looks like it may be the next thief. Since Eidos has
abandoned the project - which in my opinion is one of the best game
series ever.

I’ve been away from gaming & Thief in particular for several years and
had opportunity recently to blow the dust off the Thief II CD’s. I have
Deadly Shadows somewhere but sadly can’t find the DVD now so can’t check
out the fan missions for it just yet.
