the other day I gave the newish virtual world "Second Life" a look and
as part of the process I had to update my Nvidia drivers.  Now I find I
cannot run Thief.  I get past the splash screen, the 'new game' screen,
the 'start game' screen, the movie, the 'continue' screen ok but ...

I have been trying to download Thief Gold Demo' from Cnet but unhappy with
their download software which bypasses my own and places spy cookies on my
system.
