It's my first game as a wizard and it's going well. I'm neutral (this
is important later). Started out with a ring of teleport control so I
was able to get out of several close scrapes easily... Found a +2
cloak of displacement from a bones pile which also greatly increased

So I stupidly trapped a monster between a boulder and a pit.
After expending my supply of daggers without killing it, I
was headed back downstairs to try to find some other way to dispatch
whatever it was.  Of course, something (I think it was a Gnome Lord)

Yeah, I know, it's a valk, I'm not bragging about ascending her.
That over with, this is the luckiest game I've had in my life. I got
Excalibur early on, and hit two bones piles soon after, both of which
had magic markers and a good assortment of scrolls, and even a cloak
