And here is why... This is a story of a young knight named KingThomas, who once dreamed of getting the high score on my school's nethakc server. I have never ascended before, and this was my most promising character yet. I had

| My RNG glitch | 31 Jul 2009 03:19 GMT | 4 |
I have the very distinct memory that whenever I quaff from a polymorphing fountain my character always turns into a Xorn. Without a ring of polymorph control unless you stay in a room you can become stuck. I was next to a store s wall escaping a mimic when polymorph

| Really good spoilers, collecting them, anyone? | 28 Jul 2009 21:53 GMT | 43 |
I would expect these spoilers circa 2001-2002 to be well established in the official site. Searching for them is a nuisance and reading the code is not optimum. Would anyone care collecting them and bringing them up to date, literally up the group stack to this date?

| NetHack as a Role Playing Game | 28 Jul 2009 21:27 GMT | 3 |
Is NetHack a "role playing game"? The spoiler information below suggests that if you _don't_ adjust your play specifically to your role, you are going to miss out on goodies, in some cases

After the Samurai I am now trying to ascend as a Knight, and the RNG is very kind with me. Right now (Dlvl 3, Knight lvl 5), I have : - a co-aligned altar at Dlvl 1

| recover password for n.a.o? | 28 Jul 2009 02:37 GMT | 2 |
I've forgotten my password on nethack.alt.org. The account apparently still exists, as it won't let me create another with that name. Is there a means to recover or reset passwords? Uhm, and there's a possibility that the email used was from a long

| spinach query | 27 Jul 2009 10:26 GMT | 6 |
Immediately after sacrificing a gray unicorn on a lawful altar (and being told I was "thoroughly on the right path"), my lawful knight ate an (already IDed) tin of spinach.

| Is it really possible to beat this game without ... | 27 Jul 2009 01:30 GMT | 68 |
... reading lots of spoilers? I've been trying for years, and I've gotten pretty far, but I think I'm going to give up and see what you need to do.

| First post - Hello! | 26 Jul 2009 11:19 GMT | 5 |
So I wrote out a long post saying hi, and talking about various highlights of my current game, but I lost it due to stupidity. Anyway, Hi All, I'm a bit of a newb but I got to gehenon several years ago and am now trying the game again. I am now at the castle and have

I still can't believe it. More than a year after my first game, I finally ascended. And this was with my first character ever to enter the Valley ! Just in case : there are spoilers after this line. So... I started this game two weeks ago, during the Full Moon. I got a co-

What is the relation(ship) between Nethack and Pokemon DS series (and Shiren, and Izuna and Tao and others) commercial dungeon crawlers? Any real life information whether one of the _original_ nethack programmers is also in the commercial company s staff? Or any
