| YANI: hermit crabs | 31 Jan 2005 22:21 GMT | 2 |
These creatures would be as large or larger than a coconut crab. The choice of protection used would be helmets but there's a 10% chance the covering is just a great big shell and there's a 5% chance the helmet is magical in nature. Hermit crabs would be represented by a red ...

| Tsingi-wiz-elf-mal-cha (long post) Advice wanted | 31 Jan 2005 22:05 GMT | 29 |
(long post, stats at end) --> Shamelessly soliciting advice! :p I've been playing nethack off and on for about 15 years, so far I haven't ascended a character. I don't really mind, I'm not

| [s] question on Mojo | 31 Jan 2005 18:57 GMT | 3 |
Suppose you hit a monster with Mojo that is carrying a wand of cancellation. The wand can explode due to the lightning damage, I suppose. Will it cancel you, standing next to the monster? Similar questions impose themselves concerning wands of polymorph and

| YASD - Monk in Sokoban | 31 Jan 2005 18:41 GMT | 11 |
So, here I am, not feeling overly alert, and not wanting to kill the best character I've ever had, so I play a neutral human monk. I like to play monks when just messing about... all those intrinsics are nice. La-di-da, take the mines, go to minetown, oh, looky, a coaligned altar!

| [PATCH] Treasure chest patch | 31 Jan 2005 16:16 GMT | 9 |
I just wrote a new patch to add treasure chests to nethack, which are hidden and contain some loot. (It's based on an idea from a recent thread.) I'm including the readme below; it has a full description of what the patch adds.

| YANI: altar creation | 31 Jan 2005 14:34 GMT | 127 |
How about a way to create an altar? Say, drop a lodestone (to provide an anchor), a flint (to make it hard), a gem (to make it valuable), a potion of holy water (to sanctify it), and a fresh corpse (of a unicorn?), then #offer.

| I know what's lying there, thanks | 31 Jan 2005 14:03 GMT | 1 |
Is there a possibility to prevent, in 3.4.3 Windows version, these annoying "Things that are here" side-bar pop-ups, or at least make them disappear at the next keystroke (at current they require special keys like Esc, space)? I don't understand

| Izchak (hope I spelled that right) robbed me blind! Sort of (stupid newb stories I thought might be funny.) | 31 Jan 2005 10:49 GMT | 1 |
Finally been getting the hang of net hack, and cleared through the gnome dungeons (I feel so pathetic...) but had an amusing incident involving a leprachaun, forgetting to drop gold, and the fun of stores...

| A stupid idea | 31 Jan 2005 10:36 GMT | 7 |
Has anyone ever, during an ascension run, used a cursed scroll of genocide to bring one of the horsemen in to level 1 and then ditch them? I have a suspicion that this wouldn't work and generally speaking I have better things to do with cursed g scrolls, but I'd be interested if

YAAP -- Fleshpile IV -- Cha Elf Pri Ascension number 4, and my THIRD since Christmas Eve (5 weeks). I am on a winning streak! I've dabbled with priests here and there, always liked them but never had much luck. This time, I
