I just discovered this newsgroup (and there are more with HL2
signage). Why do HL2-playing public congregate on alt.games.half-life,
and not on alt.games.half-life2  ?

Sheesh! I just bought a new laptop recently. Nothing special, cost $500 and
came with AMD Turion MK-36 (2GHz), 2GB PC5300, and ATI Radeon Xpress 1100
256MB graphics.
Just for kicks, I installed Steam and then Half-Life 2. Lo and behold, it

I installed the game Half Life 2 into my new PC with a double-core
processor AMD 64 X2, 3600+. When I am starting the game, I get the
message saying that "the game requires at least a 2.2 GHz processor,
and this processor is 1.9 GHz. Continue anyway ?".

I dont get any i tried taking steam and HL2 off my firewall i changed my
filter..is there anything left to do i even verified all my games..if i cant
fix it soon im gonna quit..with this gay Bs

Well, I got me a new computer. Thank you to all who counseled me. Lot's of
excellent and interesting advice. Much of it was encouraging me to build my
own computer, but I chickened out on that plan.
After I got the laptop and set it up I had toI call Dell technical support

I'll ask AGAIN politely and no, NO I will not shut up until I have a
reply!
Will I be able to install and run the STEAM games I payed for, in...
lets say a years time if I run Windows 98?

I like the way that STEAM works. Pity they can't start flogging movies and
music as well. Thirteen million people can't all be wrong? I also have
HL2E2, TF2 and Portal vouchers that have been bundled in with my new
graphics cards, it's all good! I wish that Valve would start the ...

Last night when I opened steam there was an article about a new mod, they
had the web site for a beta download, I somehow lost that page and the
vwebsite link!
Today I can not find the page or link, Unfortunatly I did not get the name

...Ravenholme. It's scary. I don't like scary.
Just replaying HL2 on my new system (and, by the by, my new Dell 2407WFP -
which doesn't suck too much!) and it's all got a lot more immersive.
So how can I - ahem - bypass Ravenholme please?
