Is their anyway to purchase Episode 1 on its own through steam and not
be paying again for HL2:DM and Lost Coast which come bundled with it?

Just looking at upgrading my 19" crt monitor.  The colours sometimes
flickers so its only a matter of time before it breaks.
Been looking online and have saw some great 19" and 20" widescreen TFT
monitors.

seems to be happening. There's a large room with two trains in but I can't
seem to find anything to 'do'. The other room leads to the actual train line
and both doors remain locked. Outside the train station ...

I am playing and enjoying this episode but I am at a loss to know how
many levels there are to play.     I have just got to the surface and
disposed of the sniper - so am I half way or near the end, or what?

Just starting the original Half Life Game, actually my first try at a
FPS game.
I'm using a P2900 Saitek for a controller,  Is this the best control or
should I be trying a joy stick type controller for half life.

I am a casual player of Half Life 2 Deathmatch for the past 2 years.
Only a few days ago I bought I gaming mouse, Logitech MX510. I tried to
play with it just as with the usual 3-button mouse, and I did not feel
how my game could be improved with the gaming mouse.

One thing I haven't been able to figure out from reviews is, in episode
1 does it have any wide open areas like highway 17?
It seems like it's mostly in the city, which was the part I enjoyed
least in HL2 .

found comments that the Platinum edition was better because it doesn't

It was actually in EP1 but you need to enable it via the
console. If you do it sometimes causes crashes.
