Steam and HDD Space30 Sep 2005 04:12 GMT52
Just a quick question - how much space does everyone's Steam folder take
up on their HD?  mine takes up a whopping 9GB .. which is a bit annoying
since the partition on which it is installed is only 10GB (I assumed a
couple of years ago when I installed it that 10GB would be ...
"Update all"29 Sep 2005 13:53 GMT2
I've just logged back onto Steam for the first time after quite a long
absence. It looks like I'll need quite a few updates to get me current.
Is there an easy way to do this all at once (so it can happen while I sleep)
instead of having to let each individual game update as it's ...
Buying HL2 off Ebay - any precautions.29 Sep 2005 08:36 GMT6
I was looking at HL2 on Ebay and I wondered if there are any pit-falls.
I don't quite understand this Steam malarkey - does it mean that a steam
account is only valid for the original purchaser of the game, or can it be
used by another purchaser?
OH sh.t!!!!!! Rita's heading this way!!!28 Sep 2005 19:17 GMT31
Damn, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water....
This bitch is projected for Galveston-Houston as a Cat 4 or possible
Cat 5... Think of all these poor devils who just escaped from Katrina
here in Houston... At least we're 50 feet above sea level but
DOD:Source and Collectors Edition HL228 Sep 2005 04:25 GMT11
Well, it appears that you have to buy the HL2 Gold or Silver editions
through Steam in order to have AND play DoD: Source.  I used my HL1 original
CD key and my HL2 Collectors Edition key with Steam.  I pre-loaded
DoD:Source and so now it is in the "Just Released" part of the ...

Busy time at Steam27 Sep 2005 23:23 GMT1
For once in the longest time I have been asked for my password when
stating Steam. I get on easlly enogh but is it because things are busy
right now or is Steam sorting through the bogus accounts and doing a
little housecleaning.
Problem with very last bit of the game27 Sep 2005 18:44 GMT8
I've played all the way through, and am at the end of the final sequence.
After trying a number of times to finish it, and getting the message about
"failing time-critical sequence", I finally went and looked at a
walkthrough.
I am soooo impressed with Steam re: preordered DoD27 Sep 2005 15:43 GMT4
So I decided to bite the bullet and preorder DoD:S.  I already have it
precached (or whatever they call it) on my system, but I wasn't going
to be able to play it anyway.
So I go to purchase it through Steam, everything is going well.  I
Off-line steam problem: Win32 StructuredException27 Sep 2005 09:55 GMT6
Off-line steam has worked fine for me for months. Now it fails with the
following error message:

>Attempt to read from virtual address 898324483 without appropriate
DOD:S27 Sep 2005 05:48 GMT2
Not buying it but did think I'd look at status etc to see how busy Steam is
tonight.  Couldn't get 'news' 'forums' etc.  I guess it's saturated.  May be
one or two folk disappointed tonight trying to get their games unlocked?
Good luck to em anyway...
the proper pc game model example26 Sep 2005 23:58 GMT15
the proper pc game model example
publishers are trying to impose new models for pc games, models
that damage pc gamers and favour publishers so we have to start
hl2.exe has encountered an error26 Sep 2005 21:39 GMT1
Ever since the recent steam/hl2 upgrade, I have been getting the above
error message when joining a server. It doesn't happen all the time
mind, after a couple of crashes, it usually allows me to join.
I've tried all the usual, restarting steam/system etc....
DoD:S.  Whats the UK release time?26 Sep 2005 21:05 GMT5
The news page says it will be released... "Day of Defeat: Source
launch that will happen Monday, September 26 at 3:00 PDT."
3.00?  Is that 3am or 3pm?  If 3 am it's already late.
03:00:00 a.m. Monday September 26, 2005 in PST8PDT converts to
Noob-type post - DOD:S question26 Sep 2005 21:03 GMT7
Never having played it does DOD have bots?
Will DOD:Source have bots?
Never did enjoy playing with the 12yr olds on-line (especially if they're
better than me).  If there are no bots and the game has to sit unused on the
