The original alt.games.battlefield1942 newgroup clan

Last night there were 90 or so, now there are 98.  Is there a new patch
that I missed?  The last one I put in was 4, I think, the one that
included the Jamalabalada (sp?) map.

I've seen all the mentions of the game crashing to desktop at the end of a
round...but mine does it right away!  It's REALLY irritating.  I've tried
with and without the patches...and it made no difference.  Any ideas?

Also from a scale of 1 to 10 what do you think about the game?

I tried to install 2142 on my Dell inspiron 5something or other.  A
two year old, midrange lapy.  Onboard graphics, etc.  (Fully patched
XP and game to 1.06).
Tried to run it and all I got was the splash screen, than a flash of

Patch 1.06 has been released.  According to the forums, most servers are
running this.
It isn't on EA yet, though, so handle with care.  I am downloading now.

Does it have players now?

I've noticed a significant reduction in the number of servers running BF2.
Has everyone abandoned this for BF2142? Is it that good?

last couple of days when playing all of a sudden the game will minimise and
then shut down alltogether..
any ideas???

Tried to run a dedicated server last night, but I only got it working
locally. Two questions:
1) Which ports are exactly needed for BFV - I have searched the net and
found different and numeruos UDP and TCP ports for this.

is there any summary available for all the weapons of the various classes
in BF2.
The summary should at least contain pictures of the weapons since it
sometimes very hard (at least for me ;-) to switch to the desired weapon,
