| Patch 1.29f No CD Problem (sorry) | 28 Sep 2005 19:01 GMT | 6 |
I am late in joining the Civ3 group, and I just learned that Civ4 is coming out Real Soon Now. And I'm sure this issue is, by now, a Dead Horse here, but I just had to ask. I recently bought an inexpensive legitimate (boxed and everything) of

| An interesting (and highly exploitable) discovery. | 27 Sep 2005 16:12 GMT | 2 |
First some background. I'm playing Conquests at Sid Level with 16 civs on a huge map with all parameters random. What I got was continents, but it appeared at first to be islands, because it just happens that my local neighbourhood is three very small continents/very large islands ...

| Hello | 24 Sep 2005 20:54 GMT | 3 |
Been around for a while, mostly picking up hints and ideas and not posting too much. Just had a question: I`m playing "conquest" and I recently made a map of 16 nations, 250x250 (huge) with lots of islands. I`ve been trying with

| Hoarding Useles Units | 24 Sep 2005 01:43 GMT | 11 |
I often wonder the causes behind once great civs that seem to stagnate and stall in tech. Sometimes long wars are the cause. In a recent game I attacked a remote but fairly large size island. Early in the game they had been powerful and had the Pyramids to show for it. My

| Conquests re-released | 22 Sep 2005 20:48 GMT | 3 |
If you're in the UK, Atari have recently re-released Conquests on their Best of Atari label. There's no manual (not that that matters), but it's good news for people like me who missed out the first time. At the time of typing, play.com have it for £4.99 (GBP) delivered.

| Question on fortifications / barricade | 22 Sep 2005 19:30 GMT | 2 |
I've built a few of these barricades (I tend to go heavy on workers and they ran out of stuff to do), and I'm wondering... If the other civ sits in it, do they get the defense bonus? I was building them mainly to stop them twice so I can bombard the heck

| Great Leaders Question | 22 Sep 2005 19:28 GMT | 6 |
I have two questions, actually... 1) I have a great leader, but he doesn't seem to be able to rush a great wonder. It worked on the "Gold" version, but now that I have the full set-up, no go.

| Questions about the Great Library Wonder | 19 Sep 2005 05:35 GMT | 1 |
My apologies if this was already posted. My news reader crashed right when I sent the first one. Anyway.... 1. Does the Great Library work for civs I have not made contact with? (It seems like the civilopedia says no, but I want to make sure.)

| Top 10 habits to unlearn, when transitioning from civ2 to civ3? | 18 Sep 2005 23:31 GMT | 6 |
I'm far too new to civ3 to be able to say anything much, but one thing strikes me as obvious: In civ3, the Veteran status given to military ground uits from Barracks is much less important than in civ2. Therefore I should try to give up my habit of always building Barracks.

| Civ4 ready to preorder | 18 Sep 2005 22:23 GMT | 1 |
Looking around, Play.com has Civ4 for preorder at £24.99 delivered. Cheaper than Amazon. They say it is due for release 18th November 2005. We will see! They have a little trailer to whet your appetite. Mostly about how addictive the game is, but Sid appears at the end.

| City square "rules"? | 18 Sep 2005 17:15 GMT | 16 |
What is the rule for city square productivity? In Civ2, a city built on a terrain type giving no shields would get a bonus of 2 shield. Is that still the case in civ3 (vanilla civ3, latest patch)?

| Civ 4 ready to preorder | 17 Sep 2005 23:24 GMT | 4 |
I am sure I am not the only one to be eagerly awaiting Civ 4. It is now available for preorder from Amazon, at least in the UK. Released 30th September. I have ordered my copy already. Have you?

| Civ 4 ready to preorder | 17 Sep 2005 15:38 GMT | 2 |
So it does. Curses! They did this with the Blakes 7 DVDs. Back to the stalwart Civ 3 for another few months then!

| Does the game cheat? - unit production | 17 Sep 2005 05:17 GMT | 5 |
I have just moved up to Monarch level. I even got a high score (for me) - but the frustration continues. Plainly the AI is much better than me than getting tech advances, and I'll have to work on that, but it also seems to be able to build Wonders very
