| Civ3 without 3D video card ? | 31 Jan 2005 19:10 GMT | 2 |
Can I run Civ III on a laptop that has a video card without 3D. It has DirectX 9 installed but Direct3D is not enabled. Otherwise it meets the system requirements and can display 24 bit in 1024x768. Thanks!

| Civ4 Suggestions | 31 Jan 2005 10:18 GMT | 26 |
I have some suggestions for Civ4. One, I still envision a game with at least a 100 civs. I know, speed becomes an issue, but with processor speeds inching up to 5 Ghz+ and memory now measured in GB instead of MB, it's becoming more feasible. Civ I had six,

| 31 Civ game! | 30 Jan 2005 01:36 GMT | 31 |
I am currently playing a game on C3C on a Huge map with a total of 31 Civs competing at once! For those of you who haven't tried it, you should do. It's mad! I'm playing Monarch and leading the Science race but am so far behind what I usually am at this point that the Science ...

| Why I can't host in Civ3-PTW? | 29 Jan 2005 22:23 GMT | 2 |
People see my games and can join the "room" but when I press launch they never connect. I have a firewall but disabling it still doesn't help (people see the game even with fw on). So what can be the problem? PS: All people log from the game (not gamespy) and the pings are usually

| What's your favourite era in Civ3? | 28 Jan 2005 10:18 GMT | 4 |
Mine would be the industrial age, first when I get to lay down railway lines as it makes defence so much easier. Getting replaceable parts is great because then I can pay back all those other civs who gave me so much grief throughout the ancient and medieval eras.

| how do I starve a town? | 27 Jan 2005 03:08 GMT | 34 |
There are some annoying features about Civ3 and this is one of them. I have captured a town, I don't want to risk a defection, so try to starve the town down to a population of 1, and then want to add some workers to build up my own ethnically cleansed town.

| Snipers | 26 Jan 2005 17:06 GMT | 2 |
I reckon there should be a sniper unit that can shoot an extra square away. After all, there are marines and paratroopers. Cheers

| Another idea to improve Civ 4 | 26 Jan 2005 16:34 GMT | 68 |
I'm using a lot of airpower in this game and I thought of a couple of things that would be a big help: 1) The ability to toggle on and off what units are currently available for movement.

| Starting the countdown | 25 Jan 2005 17:43 GMT | 5 |
A friend told me about this. when you have a resource on the map such as salt-peter or some other exhaustable resource, the countdown on its lifespan starts as soon as a road is built to it. Therefore he suggests not to connect resources to roads you aren't ready to use.

| cannot install CIV 3 conquest | 24 Jan 2005 22:32 GMT | 2 |
Oh no. I thought I will tweak my map and now I cannot install conquest - I recently had to change hard drive. It gets to 60% and then I have error message with DX installer file: D:directX\mdxredist.msi

| How much do you roleplay your civ? | 22 Jan 2005 22:46 GMT | 4 |
I hadn't really considered how much I get into a roleplay mode in Civ3 until a recent session of the ongoing Rise of Rome (C3C) game that my son and I are playing. He is Rome, I am Macedonia, and we are allied against the Persians and Carthage (the scenario rules lock Rome into

| Problems with PTW crashing | 22 Jan 2005 22:19 GMT | 1 |
Dear everyone, I'm having major problems using CIV3 PTW - apart from being quite slow, I find the program locks-up and crashes if I attempt to communicate with another civilisation.
