My computer restarts itself and i get the error message after it loads

I recently installed Flight Simulator X + Acceleration Expansion Pack under
Vista Ultimate on a fairly new high spec notebook. It was working well until
for some reason I started getting fatal errors whenever from the missions
screen I clicked on 'Go to Briefing.' I uninstalled ...

I find that after all these years, I seem to have lost Hawaii in FSX. There
is absolutely no mention of it or of Honolulu or any island in the menus. It
still seems to be there on the map, but there is land around it instead of
sea!

My FS2004 installs until it reaches 70%, and then asks for disk 4. I put it
in, and select ok. Then it pops back up asking me to insert disk 4, even
though it in there! I've checked the disk, and it's totally fine. I doubt
it's my computer, as I've downloaded this game onto here ...

The enthusiasm killing virus has not struck me, perhaps a thread of advice
from others might help those who have been stricken.

I've got another question about the proposed system build for my friend.
I gather DX 10 is a bit of a flop and FSX is only 32-bit. So would you
say that sticking with XP and only buying 2GB RAM for now makes the most
sense rather than upgrading to Vista 64-bit with 4GB?
