Happy July 4th06 Jul 2008 17:19 GMT13
Happy July 4th to all the Americans out there. CoPilot Tweets and I
will be going into D.C. tomorrow to check out the Francis Bacon museum
(Folger Library) with all that Rosicrucian, Atlantis, and Shakespeare
stuff (yes we're amateur Atlantis hunters). We'll hang around to see the
Birds of prey used at CYYZ06 Jul 2008 15:37 GMT5
I was watching the Toronto news last week and saw a feature of the
'birdman' of Pearson Int'l Airport CYYZ in Toronto.
This gentleman is in charge of an aviary housing 22 birds of prey,
some of which are released each day to deter other birds from being
This Is Why I Do Not Play FSX06 Jul 2008 08:58 GMT29
I have not flown any flight simulator including FSX for about six months.
That's a long dry spell, and today confirmed for me why it is going to stay
this way for a while.    At the end of the day, I purchased Microsoft Flight
Simulator in order to have a fairly realistic and ...

Busses Blocking Street
Yesterday was a fun day, but I must tell this story. We arrived at 3rd
St SW on the Orange Line (Metro) and proceeded on foot up 3rd St and
notice city Transit busses parked broadside, blocking 3rd St at Maryland
Airplanes vs. Women05 Jul 2008 20:51 GMT2
Found this sitting on my hard drive and thought you all might enjoy
it. Don't remember where I got it and maybe you've all seen it before
but...

How to avoid slow load times?05 Jul 2008 18:13 GMT15
I need to reinstall MSFS. I have FS9 and FSX. I am tempted to go back
to FS9 just to avoid the slow load times that FSX promises. What can I
do to avoid the slow load times experienced in FSX? My hardware is not
the issue.
For those with Voz...05 Jul 2008 04:03 GMT2
Found these un-documented air strips in Qld the other day. If not mentioned
before in this forum you may enjoy the trip. Make sure to 'VOZ' the northern
region.

CH Yoke05 Jul 2008 00:14 GMT10
I just ordered the ever-popular CH flight Yoke (USB version) after
years of using a different flight-yoke which is no longer available
(G-Force).
With the G-Force, I had no problems securing it to my desk because it
Windows XP 64-bit04 Jul 2008 23:47 GMT9
Ibby suggested in another post that I should change to XP 64 to stop
Out-of-Memory errors. I've had that in mind for ages in fact, but have
always been a bit worried about hardware issues.
Anyone installed XP-64 and found they have had to ditch stuff as a
Nvidia video card upgrade - 8800 series versus 9800 series?04 Jul 2008 23:36 GMT12
Hey gang,
Been running my BFG 8800 GTS 640 mb card, since April of last year.
Now that the GTX cards are out, this puts my card into about the third
generation category.
CH Yoke04 Jul 2008 23:27 GMT2
Hi..
Today I ordered a CH Yoke to improve my flightsim experience.....hope it´s
worth it, but that´s  my impression from what I have been written on this
newsgroup....:)
Re. Curse of Payware Aircraft04 Jul 2008 23:20 GMT8
Well, it was just too sad ditching my PMDG etc. panels - throwing the
baby out with the bathwater. And I am not 100% convinced that the
freeware panels were much better in the end. So, I've restored
everything to the way it was, pre-rant, and have tried other
What is that button for?04 Jul 2008 15:43 GMT11
FS2004's Heading Indicator instrument has a button located at the
bottom left side of the dial labeled 'PUSH'.  Pushing it turns the
dial's face clockwise or counterclockwise.  What is the purpose of
this button?  Why would anyone want to turn the dial clockwise or

The two-page spread photo in AWST seems to show counter-
revolving props on each side. Also advanced prop blades.
Any flight deck photos?
