I'm a pilot. I mean for real. Like certificated. My question is, why
aren't sims worth a damn? They're cheezy and crappy. The flight models
are wrong. The radio equipment doesn't work right. The terrain isn't
photorealistic and I can't pull negative Gs. You can't do pilotage.

I ordered the Dell XPS 630 based on your advice (see my earlier thread). My
friend has a similar system with three monitors and FSX Deluxe. We need your
expert advice on this frustrating issue.

I was trying different settings in FSX, following a re-install a
couple of weeks ago, and found that if I set framerate to 'unlimited',
it ran at 7 - 12 fps better than if I limited it to 25fps or 30fps. As

Yesterday, I fired up my CLS A340-500 (Air Canada) of course, and flew
from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  I used FS9 for this trip
and fully enjoyed the smooth frame rates, the reliable radio and
perfect behaviour of the ATC.

Many of you have been so helpful and smart along the way that I am letting
you make the final decision for me on the following configuration from Dell.

Had to reinstall fs9.  Downloaded the 9.1 update but when I try to install
it I'm told "it appears its already installed"...but its not ... at least
the version still says 9.0.  Any help?

is it really possible that FSX Acceleration needs better HW? I've installed
FSX on my Laptop and it was running w/o any problem - now, after installation
of FSX Acceleration I always get the errormsg that my graphic card will not
fulfill the minimum HW requirements (shader ...

Seems like the more things I install in FSX the worse and more
unstable it becomes.
Just today I pick a default C172 with the G1000.
Choose a strip in Hawaii and real weather.

Here is one that is an oldie, but a goodie. You probably have seen it
before, but it is still funny, even after the tenth time you read it:

How do you adjust the course indicator on the horizontal situation
indicator?  I don't seem to be able to see it on the panels nor can I
find a keyboard equivalent for it.
