Drunk Air - Sober Air
Well not really.. but this newsletter arrived from Just Planes and
I thought.. "you must be joking!"  :))   It looked that way at first,
and it's not much of a stretch either.

Came across this aerobatics video. I'm almost certain they're using
Lockon Modern Air Combat. This is the sort of thing I'd like to
eventually be able to do. MSFS isn't the prefered sim for this kind of
thing for a number of reasons (including having to turn off collision

Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro and Windows XP30 Sep 2006 21:33 GMT3
Is there anybody out there that could tell me if this joystick with the 3.02
driver will work under XP for Fs9?
Microsoft claims it is only intended for Win 95 & 98, but.....
I have found a converter for a soundcard's gameport to USB, so the
STAR Procedure Landing in FS200430 Sep 2006 19:06 GMT4
Does anyone know if it's possible to land IFR
using a specific STAR Procedure instead of those
"vectors to ILS"?
If I want to approach and land with a chart procedure
Train Simulators30 Sep 2006 14:19 GMT6
After trying MS Train Simulator and being so thoroughly disappointed with
it, I haven't been into Train simming for a while.  But it caught my
interest again and thought I would give it a try again.  It seems that
Trainz is the current state of the art sim.  But surfing around, I ...
aviation video site30 Sep 2006 11:58 GMT2
Someone pointed me to this video site.  An unbelievable amount of aviation
videos you can view on line or apparently download to you H/D for later
viewing.  Here is a link to one I found at www.flightlevel350.com

Is KSEA special in FS 2004?30 Sep 2006 10:25 GMT18
Am I imagining things, or is KSEA special in Flight Simulator?  It
seems to have a very detailed airport, and the city of Seattle has
lots of nice detail too ... and yet the framerates are mysteriously
high.  Has this location been specially optimized for performance, by

Re: Cargo out of Nevada into KSFO30 Sep 2006 03:15 GMT2
Original post goes back to Sept 16th. This is one view uploaded to
Flickr but no link to it was posted. Only took ~9 hits where as the
other FedEx pics took 80 - 110 hits. So here's a fine view of Tahoe.

Got an issue! :-(30 Sep 2006 03:01 GMT43
Just tried 3 times to start a flight in KSLC (Salt Lake City) for my video,
and it gets to about 40% loaded and then "FS9 has encountered a problem.
This program will now close and be taken outside and shot 4 times. We
apologise for any inconvenience....and blood on the wall!"
Left hand or right?29 Sep 2006 23:30 GMT10
While I own and enjoy the CH Yoke and pedals, I also own the Saitek X52
joystick and throttle set.  Some of the newer large jets are implementing a
lefthand joystick and right hand throttle for the left seat (the opposite,
it seems, from the HOTAS arrangement that modern fighter ...
FS2x KLN 90B GPS with Flight 1 Pilatus29 Sep 2006 23:03 GMT2
I recently bought Flight 1's Pilatus than I came across the KLN 90B GPS
by Fs2x that adds a lot more features. So I decided to take the chance
& purchase it as well. It doesn't appear to be a direct port though.
I've done some panel.cfg editing to get it displaying and working in
Flightaware tracker website29 Sep 2006 22:46 GMT17
The website  http://flightaware.com  is useful for viewing traffic and
tracking flights, at least over the USA. Thanks Peter for the link.
From the following typical URL (home field here), one can quickly see
the `active runway´ and spot various International flights, and other
I'm NEVER flying BA !29 Sep 2006 21:31 GMT55
Saw a piece last night about a British Airways 747, non stop from LA to
Heathrow....#2 engine caught on fire on takeoff...instead of landing they
called the 'office' for instructions, and continued the flight ! And came up
150 miles short and had to land at another airport for ...
