How long do you spend fighting, for example, the warlock types near Booty Bay for you to adjust this macro before you fight them. It would be a lot of wasted time across the levels.
Also, this macro would be more useful in PvP as you often want to ignore the pet as it will despawn when the owner dies. Unfortunately, it would be unworkable in PvP as player and pet names are too varied and a player may have the same name as a pet.

Well, if you knew what targets might be present in a particular fight, you could make exactly the macro the OP was looking for.

No, they don't make decision for you what to kill first. The only thing such macro does is allows you to help with targeting in a pre- set sequence (e.g. chains first) - kill order is already determined when writing such macro. They simplify things, but don't automate.

These macros effectivley allow one button to make a decision for you on what to kill first.

It is making a decision for you and that is some level of automation. You say target and it selects a target intelligently. I also think that it can't be done but would like to be proved wrong as it could be useful.

He is not asking for automated system targetting, I believe he is asking to skip unnecessary targets, yes it is possible you better ask in WoW official Macro and Ui forums.

But even if one did exist or you were to write one yourself, it wouldn't be usable in combat. Blizzard redid the macro system some time ago to disallow automated selection of targets while in combat.
