New xbox360 update?

Hi,
When I logged on today, it said there was a new update. Being an
xbox360 noob, is this the "fall" update? Not sure what it updated as I
don't see anything new like what was showm at E3. Anyone have info on
this update?

According to a respone from Microsoft, this new update does nothing...for
now. It is adding some foundation work for upcoming features, such as the
new dashboard and all that. But right now, we'll see no differences.

Thanks Doug,

Just saw this on the web also, "> As related by Xbox Live director of
programming Larry Hryb, today's update contains no new features. However,
it does "contain code to prepare for future growth of the service," words
that were helpfully linked to Microsoft's announcement of the Xbox Live
reimagining"

A bit off topic but you mentioned Larry Hryb. Major Nelson is the man
and will always be so in my book. I had problems with my live account
and got nowhere with MS billing - I sent a email to him in a last ditch
effort and he was kind enough to forward my issue to the correct dept.
The issue was resolved in two days after 5 months of BS w/ MS billing.

There are good people working everywhere. Some just don't have the knowledge and/or training to handle issues like that. Sorry, you had a hard time with the wrong folks.

Ya it's just a regular update for, "something." Later this fall is the
update you've been hearing about. I'm pretty excited about it considering I
have a netflix account and a lot more features too.

Ya, It's a small update to prepare the 360 for the major Fall Update to come
at a later date. my guess would be sometime in October. You'll know it
when you get the Major Update as it's a pretty HUGE change. You won't be
able to miss it.
