Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed again

Ubisoft announced that the game would now release sometime during
their 2009-2010 fiscal year (which ends on March 31 so we could
theoretically have to wait 20 months for the game).

I'm wondering what is the mitigating factor behind the delays. I've
read speculation by the PS3 fanboys that Ubisoft felt their game was
inferior to Metal Gear Solid 4 but they're not at all the same type of
game.

Metal Gear Solid games have always *supposed* to have been stealth
games but were really action games when it came down to it, and
nothing about the games is realistic. Splinter Cell games, on the
other hand, have always been about stealth and have always been
drenched in reality.

The new direction Ubisoft was taking with Conviction looked very
interesting. Of course, I have to disclose that I have always been a
fan of the Hitman style of gaming despite not being a fan of the
Hitman style of crappy graphics.

Well, at least now I know what it's like to be a PS3 fanboy waiting
through delay after delay. All that needs to happen is for Ubisoft to
announce that the game will be on the PS3 as well and my
transformation will be complete. ;-)

Was it? I remember hearing a while back that the game would be delayed
to first quarter 2009 (real time, not fiscal time). Last I heard, we
were expecting it in late winter or early spring 2009.

This announcement states that it could arrive as late as March 31,
2010.

In May, near the MGS4 launch, we got this:

"The publisher tells CVG that the time frame for Conviction is this
fiscal year, which would be sometime before April '09; meanwhile,
Ubisoft tells Eurogamer that the team is currently "polishing" the
title, but wouldn't give a time frame for any further Conviction
information."

That's very different than "sometime April 2009 to March 2010."

I'm not quite sure what >>>>>>> is supposed to mean. I'm going to take
a wild stab and say that you're claiming that GameStooge is better
than Joystiq which in itself is a hilarious thing to say.

How you feel about Joystiq is irrelevant. I simply grabbed the first
article I could find. I didn't even read it originally in Joystiq.

Regardless, GameStooge's post:

occurred earlier today (probably minutes before my post). That is not
"ages ago" LOL and I'm sure GameStooge just ganked it from IGN or one
of the other real gaming sites, anyway.

I don't mind waiting as long as the game is good it'll be worth it.

I hope they set the bar high on this game. Splinter Cell has long been
one of my most enjoyed games. What this gen is really missing is a
realistic stealth game.

I think dingo-dude is being sarcastic.  Like me saying:

Jonah Falcon is the essence of a real video game journalist, and is
the most unbiased person out there.
Bligmerk is a rational person with no serious mental issues
whatsoever.

Word.

Console fanboyism is the most respectable, coolest hobby in the world.

Who are you to doubt the Games Stooge?

Someone with taste, a brain and common sense to go with it.

Particularly since the majority of GameStooge articles are just re-
badged Joystiq articles anyway...

Most of the time I just read GameTab anyway...
