Just a silly little note basically.
I've restarted my FR game again and rather than pick my favourites again I
thought I would play through with some of the erm "less able" pokemon.
So just out of interest, do you have a pokemon that you loathe using and
wouldn't pick given the choice?

A lot of the peginning pokemon are quite bland, like Ratatta, Pidgey etc,
but they can be decent if raised well.

Realy, how far did you get before you restarted?

My experience is a bit limited to Pokemon I've tried to evolve or
purify. Incidently, this list includes Unown, as I wanted to train one
to level 100 to see if something surprising happened. I never really
got that far, though, before losing interest. And I'm not a big fan of
Shuckle, either. Don't forget Magikarp, Feebas, Metapod, Kakuna,
Silcoon, and Cascoon, unless you're trying to avoid "totally useless"
types. Ditto, Smeargle, Wynaut and Wobbuffet could be challenging.

Smeargle may be good as Mew therefor it can learn any move as long it has
multiple moves called Sketch.
You can acheive something like that if you only have a whole lot of Heart
scales/Big mushrooms so you can re-teach the move Sketch over and over.
(Sketch lets you copy a move off your foe).

The only move Smeargle learns by leveling is Sketch, and you get it
every 10 levels, so you don't really need to re-teach it, just level it
up some.
Charmander-123 - 03 Sep 2006 05:23 GMT
Well, than that was a waste for me... I thought you had to "re-teach it every
time.

It's not necessarily a waste of Heart Scales. If you wanted to have
Smeargle learn moves without having to level-up, then that may be very
handy. There are Four situations where such a thing would apply:
1) Smeargle is level 100
2) You're trying to keep Smeargle under a certain level (for, like, a
tournament or something)
3) The moves you've given Smeargle make it frustrating to level it up.
4) You're too lazy to actually train Smeargle thirty levels (assuming it
starts with Sketch).

Smeargle's stats are somewhat lack-luster though, aren't they? Therefore
he'd be pretty useless. I like Shuckle as a challenge, but you'd need to get
the poisoning/slow killing methods down well in order for it to be a good
party member. If it also had high HP, it'd be one of the hardest Pokemon to
bring down.

Dont the stats only rely on the nature...???

I think each Pokemon species has its own unique stat progression (like
Chansey's high HP) that are modified by the individual Pokemon's nature,
and then modified even further by the stats of the Pokemon it fights
(for instance, fighting Chanseys will boost your HP). Of course, every
species has its own stat caps as well, so you can only improve them so much.

At the moment I'm using a mankey, beedrill and Charmeleon,( I'm not totally
insane.)I tend to try to stick to the pokemon I am going to train and grab
any needed to fill the dex later. So far I've managed to beat everybody up
to Lt. Surge with no problems. Wynaut/wobbefet I can imagine being quite
useful ingame because it tends to be quite easy to guess what the computer
controlled trainers will use. I have wondered about using a blissey/chansey
but I'm not sure if I am that masochistic. >;-)
