Hi,

Just got Farcry (patched to v1.1) and can't figure what out the
following settings do, looked in the .pdf and readme but can't find
any info.

1. Lazy-Gun?

2. AI Auto Balance?

Btw is there a way to disable the start-game intros to just get to
the main game-screen?

Only other thing I wonder about, of the 5 difficulty-levels, what's a
decent challenge? I started on the 'Challenging' setting and that
seemed to be plenty-enough. Tried 'easy' too but it still seems fairly
difficult. Do the difficulty levels increase the number of enemies, or
accuracy/aim,  etc? I like to have 'fun' playing this type of game,
and not get 'too' frustrated.

Geesh(!)  I had -lots- of sound and frame-rate problems after 1st
installing the game and patch. Read posts here, others seemed to have
problems too.

First problem,  the graphics were very messy and distorted. Trees
were all 'warped', huge green graphics artifacts,  and inside any
building or tunnel, the frame-rate would 'crawl'.

Then a complete mess-up with game sound. All sorts of 'clicking' and
'hissing' noises from the sound-card, I couldn't even understand the
cut-scene voice overs. Readme sound-help settings didn't help any.
Then the sound-card just quit... :-/  Somehow an Microsoft WMD
sound-driver got installed (no idea how...) and disabled all XP sound.

Got the sound-card working again (restored XP drive C: with
restore-softwawre), then re-installed FarCry again (re-install is very
fast if old files are not deleted).

All the graphics were auto-set to 'high' again, but I set them all to
'medium' just in case. Now the whole game works fine, no sound clicks,
frame-rates are normal, no problem, extremely smooth frame-rate and
great sound-quality, background music is on, no problems.

Still can't figure out how the game ran so poorly on the first
install (with v1.1 patch), and just fine on the second install. I'll
probably work fine on 'high' graphics settings too, will have to test.

CoD sure installed easier than this game did!....<g>.

The gun lags behind your mouse movements, very annoying.

>2. AI Auto Balance?

The AI changes in response to how well you play the game.

Not that I know of, but pressing escape shortens it a lot.

Easy, even then it is still a challenge for me!

No problems with the install of FC for me.

Thanks for the info.

The Lazy-gun setting sounded strange, didn't try it, surely won't
now.  And I understand about the AI Auto-Balance, that option is in a
few other games.
