mbgaski@gmail.com - 22 May 2008 18:25 GMT > Ok, I just hit 70 > > Now what. > > Daily quests > How do i get fancy armor and weapons. Enough people wanted them that there's a bazillion different ways to get epics. Easy, soloable ways include dailies for rep items, PvP, or professions. A limited few of the dailies even have a chance at giving you a badge of justice so if you do them every day you can even solo some of the cheaper badge gear.
If you feel like grouping, there's badge items, direct heroic drops, or classic raiding option.
> This is strange to be at the top until October. I'd wager it'll be well past October before we can start the hike to lvl 80 ;). There's a lot of time left to do stuff. Heck I started playing the original game about a year before TBC came out and I remember doing TONS of stuff at 60 and beyond in that before TBC was here.
> Oh, yea, get another toon up Always an option. I love leveling alts because lately it's gotten to where the main thing I've had problems with in WoW is committing to schedules. Leveling an alt is good because I can log off at a minute's notice, can goof off as much as I'd like without holding anyone else up, and generally, so I don't do guilds on non-max leveled toons, I can be free of 99% of the drama that WoW brings. I am getting up there though. Now have 4 toons at 70 and 3 are in their 30's.

kerri@spamsucks.com - 22 May 2008 20:25 GMT > This is strange to be at the top until October. Ah, but you're not at the top. You just climbed one ladder to be presented with a whole new ladder to climb -- gear. It's like getting reset back down to the bottom again.
If you're still wearing some green items (or lower-level blues), then find out which regular instances to run to get rid of them. Once you're equipped in mostly blues, start running heroic dungeons to get some epics, or pvp for them.
Once you have a fair mix of epics, try to join a guild that is running kara.
Once you're all decked out in epics, you learn those epics are still not good enough.... wait for your guild to progress to 25-mans and ZA. Now, maybe just maybe you're geared enough to start in on BT or Hyjal.
Then, WoTLK comes out and you can start replacing your epics with level 73+ green items.
It's a cycle, but it's the cycle we know and love...

Yarbles - 23 May 2008 12:01 GMT I hit 70 and began using him to gather essentials for my other low level chars. It really helps make their lives easier. I know it's cheesy but hell they're all part of the same family :)
Better gear is had like others have said through PvP action. Be prepared though if you're alliance. You'll loose all the time and the honor points will trickle like the last few drops of syrup from your fav bottle of Aunt Jamima maple. I did get lucky and was able to secure an incedible head piece at the Honor Hold guy but the rest of the set requires traveling to different areas and building up mega rep.

On mine, (Misery-EU) Horde seem to win about 60% WSG, AB and AV. They win less than 20% of EotS, mainly due to lack of players for at least half of each game.
> I did get lucky and was able to > secure an incedible head piece at the Honor Hold guy but the rest of > the set requires traveling to different areas and building up mega rep. If you are referring to the blue pvp rewards then they do not need mega rep. They only need you to be honoured with the faction that you want to buy the item from. The factions that sell the items are Thrallmar / Honor Hold, Cenarion Expedition, Lower City, Sha'tar and Keepers of Time. You can't fail to get honoured with Thrallmar or Honor Hold from quests in HFP. I also think that you'd struggle to get through Zangarmarsh without being honoured with Cenarion Expedition and you can buy items to get honoured if you need to. You can also buy honoured with LC and Sha'tar* which means that the only one that you need to do instances for is Keepers of Time. I think that it's probably only 1 Durnholde run and 2 BM runs to get to honoured.

* you can buy your way to 1 point from honoured with Sha'tar by getting Aldor or Scryers reputation items. You'll then need to complete one Sha'tar quest if you have any left or kill one mob in a Tempest Keep instance. I found Mechanar to have the easiest single pull and 2 manned it (but it was close)

How do I find out what battle group i'm in? I thought it was on the armoury page, but the EU armoury page is down at the moment. I'm Alliance on EU_Teranas.
Are there any official figures for each battle group, or is it just gut feel?

The armoury and the official wow site are the places to look and I think that there might be entries on wowwiki.

I found Mechanar to have the easiest single >pull and 2 manned it (but it was close) Just as a note, Arca might be easier - I did a single kill there yesterday to get a guildie to honoured and it was very easy, he sheeped one ranged mob and we both nuked the other down while I healed him a little. Mech I'm assuming you'd have to pull either a group of 3 or one of the big mobs, both options I think would be tougher. Although of course Arca requires the key to get in...

But I am having fun in my old age, so life is nice

Go to the auction house and buy some cheap gems (don;t know what they cost for tanks, but for mages the best cheap gems cost 1-2g on my server). Don;t worry about the more expensive gems until you have gear worth putting them in. The PvP meta-gem from Terrokar Forest will do if you have a blue helm that takes one.

On Shadowsong, the gems are 20 gold and Up. Which is not that bad. Thanks for mentioning it to me. I have some of them now, and will continue to add gems to my new armor.
The problem I have is
1. Should I upgrade my armor. Do dailies that I can.
or
2. Save everything first for a flying mount. someone said they are 5000g which would mean saving for a while \

For mages on Darkmoon Faire, the cheap orange and purple gems are never more than 3g, I think there may be cheap reds for a little more. The second tier of mage gems cost 30-50g.
Epic gems drop in heroic instances, and are better than the 50g ones.

If you like dungeons, gear up in heroics (with maybe a bit of PvP added in). All the warrior tanks seem to run Mechanar until they get a sword called the Sun Eater... that's all I know about where warriors go for gear.
Consider joining a raiding guild, you will eventually outgrow heroics.

Heh, if you play at the right times at least. Playing on an East Coast server from Australia, I've actually had a few times where I've had my tank, been able to find a healer easy enough, but there weren't any dps around interested. Though that'd partly be because most of the dps around are probably geared up for heroics and greater and aren't interested in doing normal dungeons.

How I wish that was the case for me... every single group requires a tank. If I'm on my priest there's a hundred healers around and the very few groups that actually found a tank already have a healer. If I'm on my warlock every group is 3 dps needing both tank and healer. Sigh. Just possibly I'll finally see the other side of it if I get my druid up to high level and keep him as a tank, but I'm hoping I'll have a nice easy choice of groups ;-)

By the time you get them up to 70, everyone else will have gotten *their* tank up to 70 and be competing with you for the dps and healers. ; )

PV - 27 May 2008 16:24 GMT >Try Lotro. I don't know a single person who switched to lotro from WoW that didn't end up switching back inside of 3 months.
There's no question it's a beautiful looking game, but it doesn't have the ability to hold your attention or years like WoW has. 8

Everyone came back and just said that they just couldn't get into LOTRO.
We also had one guy leave for 6 months to go to Dungeons and Dragons Online. He eventually came back, thoroughly ticked. Apparently, he thought D&D Online was the pinnacle of development of the MMORPG, and loved every minute of it. Unfortunately nobody else did, and the lack of other players around eventually pushed him back to WoW (at least for a while :)).
