What, no soft cushy retirement for John-Boy? No junket tours, just
travelling the galaxies frozen like a slab of meat waiting to be thawed for
serving at his masters whims? No Carribean palace with N-number of nubile
virgin slaves to pander on him? What a world! He's better off without it.

A military loves a soldier who kills a lot and dies young.

Another little thing that may be worth adding:

"Though much of his wartime record is still classified, it is known that
Spartan-117 participated in over 200 battles, neutralised thousands of
Covenant targets, and was awarded every UNSC decoration except the -Prisonor
of War Medalion-"

Surely he'd want to be alive in get it ;-)

Not so fast.  If you go through the entire 3D landscape, find Master
Chief.  He certainly looks dead.  He looks limp and lifeless being
held up by the neck at the hands of a Brute Chieftain.  If you click
on the plasma grenade that Master Chief is holding, a movie will
load.  Watch the movie...especially the end!

And he's about to detonate that grenade.

That scene does not happen in the game, by the way.

If you enter the 180 mode it tells you that he let himself get captured and
that was the turning point of the battle, so he's not dead.

Um, you might notice that the Master Chief never received a Prisoner
of War medal, so that's wrong.

If you let yourself get captured (with the intent of "turning the war") -
are you an actual "Prisoner of War"? If not, you don't deserve to "earn a
medal" for that....just a thought.
