RIGHT BELOW the download links on the MacSoft web page is an
explanation:
Halo now requires me to insert my CD to play.
Version 1.03 and all future versions of Halo require a CD to play.
Nearly all PC games and most commercial Mac games releasing in 2004
also require a CD to play. MacSoft has resisted requiring a CD to play
our games until now, but the massive online theft of Halo and other
games has now forced us and other Mac games companies to implement
copy-protection schemes. All of these schemes depend on a CD being
inserted. We very sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes
the honest people who
have purchased Halo. Unfortunately, there are now just too many
dishonest people willing to steal games like Halo on the Internet. More
