After installing the latest patch earlier this week, Halo would not load. It would start then exit to the desktop. Nothing in Event Viewer however the program did ask me if I wanted to send the exception report to microsoft. I re-installed the program from CD and patched to v1.02. It worked fine. Went to v1.03, crashing again. I added the '-novideo' command line switch to the shortcut and the 1.03 patch is now working fine. It cuts out the movies when you first run Halo. I am running a Dell Lattitude Laptop with a Nvidia GeoForce Video Card. Hope this helps others. I was very upset for 2 days!! With 1.03 my PC will sometimes lock up when switching from one map to another in multiplayer mode. I read that others are having the same problem. When it locks up I will have to power off and back on. Ctl/Alt/Del wont even work. Thanks Microsoft for a f_cking mess. I have Halo running on two run of the mill PCs, nothing special and its running fine after the patch... Also, I did notice that I still see a lot of Tk'ing... I notice from the FAQ that you HAVE to install the latest update if you want to play the game online or it just won't let you. Maybe Microsoft should change this because their last two patches have f*cked things up for a lot of people. V1.0 worked perfectly. I would prefer to return to V1.0 and play online. Nothing they have done with the patches has improved the game at all, just slowed it down, caused more lag and made a stable game crash. They need 1.4 patch out ASAP ..>> I saw this last night A person would enter and their pings were 1500 to 2000 Now I did not know if they were entering a new game after being banned or if they are using a crappy connection But, 3 in 1 game is odd and I had never seen this before I wonder if some users on satellites are trying to play ..... ya just can't I have it and I use my modem to play. It is not great but it will work.
