I'd pay for that, hope the modders make a fortune, they deserve it.

It looks excellent :)     Love the video teaser - many, many iconic and
memorable moments from the original game neatly reinvented in a big way,
then lined up together to make an epic feeling cinematic.   The blast
pit monster looks truly awesome (lots of additional new dialogue?  I
don't remember the sci yelling "its got my leg!" before).     Thinking
of which,  did you notice all those samey-looking scientists all over
the place?  because I didn't!  They've done a great job in making a
whole load more unique faces by the looks of things..At least thats the
impression the video gives.. though with the number of 'throwaway'
scientists in the original, i'm sure there'll have to be at least some
repeated appearances of sci models - such as the doomed scientist near
the beginning who falls to his death when the platform collapses.

Actually, I think the last time I was *that* impressed by such attention
to tiny detail was.. around 10 years ago:)

I wonder if they remembered to put the pie in the microwave?

Whoa.
Maybe this will prompt someone to make a decent movie of the three Half-Life
stories.
Movie 1 - Black Mesa
Movie 2 - Return to Nova Prospekt (?) or Citadel
Movie 3 - Final Showdown.

Bet the internet takes a hit that day that puppy is released for download...

I'd love to see a Half-Life movie rendered in the Source engine in the
same way that trailer has been cut together.  Indeed, the means to do so
has been there for quite some time now, all we need is some clever soul
(or a team of, more likely..) to get down and work the magic :)

This would probably beat anything Hollywood could put together.  The story
line is somewhat difficult in the first game since it is almost completely
solitary. Hard to do that in a film. HL2 had a little more dialogue and
interaction between players and NPCs.

Maybe when I retire... but don't hold your breath, that is a few years off
still. And, getting further off as the stock market tanks....

Undoubtedtly so - Apparently the best offers Valve have had from various
hollywood directors have involved story arc-twists along the lines of
"..and then Gordon falls in love"

I don't think huge amounts of dialogue would necessarily make the film.
Just go and look at some of the early films starring 'Governor'
Arnie, back when he could barely string 3 words of english together
without it seeming forced :)

If I had any natural artistic talent whatsoever, I'd be right there, but
unfortunately I don't! :-)

I bet you'd *still* go through killing every scientist, even now
they've got recognisably different appearances...
