I know just what you mean! I bought one of them new fangled Blu-Ray discs,
and was appalled to discover that it would not play when I put the disc into
my VHS recorder! I put your problem to the test, but now my telephone does
not work correctly, mustn't have liked the water that got into the jack. I'm
never boiling the kettle near the phone socket again! etc etc

BB is still a bit expensive, and definitely not a yet a default
option for our telephone networks.

Yes, I was a user of satellite BB out in the sticks where I live, before BB
got out this far, as 56k is atrocious. I am glad that steam didn't exist
before BB arrived where I live!

What's the speed of your satellite link? 64Kbps?

It was 2mb, but that was download only, still had to browse the net with
dialup. It was OK for downloading large files, but that was about it.
Eurosat I think it was called, and it was a few years ago. When broadband
finally arrived it was 512k, but over time that has been increased by the
phone company, now it's 3MB, and suits me fine.
