I was thinking about that the other day.    all the names who have
shared in the AGHL history over the years.. many long gone, perhaps some
still lurking in the background.   Many are missed, one or two we
probably hope to never see again.    Stick your neck out if you
recognise yourself on this list and say "hi!" for old times sake  :)

Lefty here, same Lefty[AGHL]  for around eight years, maybe more.  I'll have
to Google for first post.  I remember it being a query about Team Fortress
though.  I bought the GOTY edition game when it got cheap, and I had'nt
played any FPS's before.  Been playing all HL games on occasion, online and
off, and lurking here ever since.  I'd have to say the best fun times to
date were around 2001-2002 playing the the old CS 1.5 with some of you guys
though.  Actually, I think I remember buying the game days before CS was
released from Beta, and was surprised to find so many of you guys already
familiar with it.  Good Times.......................................

Oh, Cory exists alright. He was a frequent poster in custom-car and
guitar newsgroups as well as ours. As for Paul Catley, well, that's me,
so yes, I do indeed exist.

I remember a while back, there was a good bit of discussion if there really
was a Dunkle, because no one could figure if it was just a readily used
trolling name in multiple newsgroups, or if the guy just always had a
slightly skewed viewpoint on nearly every subject that came up.

As far as Catley goes, anybody familiar with Colbert?
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml
http://www.comedycentral.com/colbertreport/videos.jhtml?videoId=24039    He
takes a lot of credit for his term 'truthiness' which he created in 2005.
You guys should be proud to have coined the term 'catlyness' long before
that.  And the term has nothing to do with cats, does it?

Good list Ben, very comprehensive :)  For a minute there, I thought you'd
forgotten my TFC buddy Cyrus, but there he is down near the bottom.  There are a
few names from the very early days that you haven't got, which I have extracted
from the first AGHL bash scoreboard screenie.  I don't remember all of them, but
it was a private server and there was no IRC channel then, so I'm sure they all
spent time here.

Still here and still converting folk to Valve games... trouble is I then
have to upgrade their PC's for them - just finished installing a new
graphics card for someone, showed them the HL2 and Portal demo and they
ordered the Orange Box there and then.  I should get commission!

Is this the list on all the people whim have ever posted to aghl? If
so it's not as many as I'd thought.

Not at all, more, I tried to cobble together a list of everyone who
comes to mind when I think of the folks who 'stuck around' for any
length of time (Whether they were the good regular posters, or the
trolls on the bridge).    Of course, Paul has already pointed out a few
I've missed off the list.    (Although i was a bit loathed to add
steamkiller, since I'm sure "he" was in fact a trollbot rather than a
real human being capable of a comprehensive discussion :)

Oh, I missed out Sabaki too.. whoops!

I just realized that the era of Half-Life and AGHL nearly perfectly
coincides with the entirety of my 30's.  Though my first post to AGHL
was more like 9 1/2 years ago.  I left for about 3 years, but came back.

Here's to turning 40 next week!  Yikes! Eight days to go.

Glad to hear from ya CF. You damn near caught up to me on that last lap, the
leg is pretty ok now  just had ultrasound done on the new artery bypass and
they say it looks good.
My biggest problem is shortness of breath, can't seem to do near as much
physical stuff as a I used to, Oh Well guess I'll just go a little slower,
maybe let some of these young whippersnappers catch up a little  :-))

Hi All, Yep I'm still here and playing my favorite games and mods and
enjoying them all, turned 74 on April 1st and am hopeing for a few more good
ones, Had a Bad scare last October with a blood clot in my right leg, nearly
lost it but the Vascular Surgeon did a superb Artery bypass at 2 am and
saved it so am fairly good yet and walking on 2 legs.
I hope to be here for quite a while yet, God willing.

Ah, nostalgia. Just looked up the "profile" google has stored for me
back in the days when I used to access the internet over a 33.6k modem.

Posted here 3 times in March 1998, then forgot about it and came back in
2000, talking about modding and demonstrating an inability to spell the
word favourite!

Also saw loads of obligatory drunken posts from when I was 17 :D

Anyway, it's been quite an involved eight years, I don't think it was so
common in 2002 for internet groups to meet in person but... hey, we
almost did it (although I think only Vis can claim to have caught up
with Fodder in person!)

Happy birthday everyone! Where's the party going to be?

I first came here in late 2001, and haven't really ever gone away again.
Mainly cos I can't find the door I came in ;-)
I couldn't find my first post to aghl but one of the earliest I found,
and my favourite, was in Jan 2002 when I was known as DuD...
http://tinyurl.com/65mk4r if you've got a couple of mins to see how
excited I was about it ;-)

Unfortunately I don't contribute here much these days, but I've never
unsubscribed, just in case someone talks about me! And the last time I
wielded a bloodied crowbar was the last TF2 bash, tho I can't remember
the time before that. I REALLY REALLY miss the fun rat-map bashes from a
few years ago and also the many sensless nights of mindless slaughter I
experienced as CF's snark target... ;-)  (The Cat's Rat House - RIP)

And the Gathering (the one in Nottingham..cheers Dave!).. who'd have
thought I'd ever travel a hundred miles or so to meet a bunch of
weirdo's, er, strangers, I'd only ever typed to over usenet? But what a
wicked day/night that was..we was definitely a bunch of united nerds
that night...only made possible by aghl and indeed, Half-Life.

And while I think of it and got everyones attention..
http://www.frappr.com/aghl - just do it!

However sad it might seem to the uninitiated and the ignorant, half-life
and aghl will always be part of my life. I have to go now as I'm getting
 rather choked by this.

Gimme a shout for the next bash, or in another ten years..whichever is
sooner ;-)

I luuurrve you all.

Ah, I didn't have a half-life folder there so I assumed I couldn't do that.

Got the server up and running but I can't connect... I get the message
"Server not responding" ... It's on the server list, changes ping and
cycles the maps... Anyone have any ideas... Someone try to log on to
it... It's a HLdm server and is named "The Rats Cat House"...

Yeah, works good for me Fodder, except that there's no-one playing!

Hopefully within this year I have a 10Mb up/down DSL thing available at the
house
Hmm maybe even later I have just checked the schedule :(

Some parts of my town has it already, just sitting tight and waiting and
waiting and ...
Atm I have 760K up and 4Mb down

I have some spare parts (p4/ddr) I will throw together and an AGHL server
will be up and running
Probably a wee bit late - but better late than never :)

I'll post here when it finally happens

Guess I'll add my "Howdy" to this thread.  Good to see some of you old farts
are still alive and kicking.  I forgot how really old a crowd we were.

Found my first post here was Jan 27 1999, recommending a site to download HL
maps.  Sadly, as so many others have done, this site is gone now.

Keep on fragging!

Stil lurking, hardly posting anymore. First post december 2001, but I was
there when the first HL came out!
