Same, I ping it every day... but it usually never lights up :(
I guess it's been nearly ten years now since this group got going, all
in all it's pretty amazing that there's anyone left here at all!

I would hug but I'm getting kinda old these days and I have joint pains :p

Yeah. Still check, but unless there's something relevant (to me, that
is, not HL, since I still haven't finished ep1) I move on quickly. Only
so many steam complaints I can handle.

Are there any active gamer newsgroups anymore?  Most of the ones I
subscribe to are as dead or deader than aghl.  I think google killed Usenet.

I'm still hanging around cspiga a lot.  They do still talk about games
in between the insults... and that's not necessarily a criticism cos I
can insult as well as the next man  ;-)

I would enjoy reading some of you guy's comments on Crysis. I'm near the end
of it and I find myself wondering at the end of each level.....How many more
ways could I have done that?? The game is so open and that suit changes
everything.

Anyone??

Didn't find that myself. I did almost get through the second time on
highest difficulty and then I got COD4.
Took all my time and energy. Level 53 of 55!!
Need more weapons!

Unfortunately 'near the end' was as on-rails as HL2.  Don't get me wrong
I love HL2 but with Crysis I was hoping for an upgraded Far Cry where I
could approach areas in various ways all through the game.
Unfortunately Crysis didn't deliver that.

The suit was interesting and gave some replay options (shall I sneak
while invisible this time, or speed past them or should I just run in
and grab them round the throat?) but ultimately it did make the game
easier than I normally like.

Overall it's a good game, it's cinematic and the storyline is fairly
decent.  The graphics are obviously great and the sound effects pretty
good.  I did enjoy it all but now I only ever replay the parts up to
flying the plane because the early levels do have some semblance of open
areas (though they are much more closed than FC)...  I prefer Stalker TBH.

Looking forward now to Far Cry 2 and Stalker: Clear Skies

Far Cry 2 is on my I WANT IT list. There's a good write up about open world
gaming in PC Zone this month. I was impressed with the write up of FC2,
especially the voice recording that Ubisoft has bone for the game. There's
South Africans and even a Belfast accent recorded for it. I only hope the
online is as much fun as Far Cry's was. I used to love finding a French
server, hiding in cover, then asking the French if they had surrendered
lately, and is the French flag a white cross on a white background! Happy
days.

i am still here and this is the first newsgroup I open.
It's springtime! Only a momentary lull.
I am about half way through Coast to Atmosphere that I was tumbled to
through some good friend on this newsgroup. Really enjoying it and it's
free! Its been one of the best mods, but  I still think Heart of Evil has
been my favorite. The atmosphere with that rain sound. It was good.
I also go to rec.running, but there are some real creeps there spueing
(phonetic - my spell check isn't set up) insults and profanity - so I go
there only when I am looking for some specific advice. Everyone here has
been pretty courteous and helpful. Wonder what happened to that M12 guy who
was putting out numerous messages at a time?
