Hi

Just got my bonus from last years messing around in the company and there's
a few dimes burning a big fat hole in my wallet
We can't have that can we?

Anyways the kids are due for a brand new gaming rig
First thing is to decide for a suitable ATX cabinet with some good airflow
etc

I have been drooling over a cabinet from Antec called "Nine Hundred"

Anything better/different/or?

Thanks/Peter

Why take one off the shelf? Half the fun is customising it yourself!

In fact, a couple of years back, we decided a friend's case was a bit
crap. The specs weren't bad but it just looked nasty, although it was at
least white.

So we painted it up, built a frame that was the size of the side panels
and screwed them into position in the back garden. And then we shot them
with a shotgun, and mounted fans in exit 'wound'

The ventiliation's good, and it looks much better now (although it
obviously has some sharp edges, just like any vetran ;) )

Then you can spend your bonus on something useful (see the beer thread) :)

I managed to use my company bonus to fix the brakes and rotors on our
mini-van.
Bah who needs that shiny new video card anyway. *sob*

I had my eye on the Antec 900 before but some small concern were the
placement of the PSU on the bottom if I recall? Had to make sure that
the PSU cables could reach everything.

I have decided to go with the Antec P182 instead
Looks awsome :)

I'm also using a P182, and did look at the Nine-Hundred as an alternative.

However, the P182 is a bit less 'flashy', has dust-filters, better
sound-dampening, so I went with it.

Very nice, definately recommended. And, if you cannot get the power-cables
to reach from the bottom to the mainboard, just put in a support-request
at Antec; they sent me an extension cable for free. Keep in mind this was
with an Antec NeoHE550 supply, so it might be useful to also get an Antec
PSU if/when you upgrade that too. ;)

Regards,

Patrick.

I'd assume that the Seasonic S12 550W will good to go for yet another
roundtrip?

That's something I cannot answer. ;)

But be aware the P182 is a rather high case, and the PSU is mounted at the
bottom. So if you want to route the 24- and 4/8-pin mainboard
power-connectors via the back of the mainboard-tray, you need enough
length for that.. No idea if the PSU you mentioned has that...

Regards,

Patrick.
