I'm trying to play Portal on my HD TV but I can't find the option to
select secondary display device as you can with other aplications.

All I can do is run in windowed mode and drag it to my TV but
obviously running windowed doesn't work correctly.

Is this possible via the game options?

Cheers

Switch primary and secondary screens before starting the game?

I know you are correct but I don't want to have to do something
everytime I play. I assumed you could just do it in the game options
as you can in many others.

You can if you use the nVidia control panel.   Just set it up in the nView
options.   I haven't tried to play a game on a ATi card newer than a
9800Pro, so can't tell ya if that can be done in current Catalyst sets.
