You can get all of Valve's games via Steam. HL2 (and all Valve games subsequently released after HL2) requires online authentication over Steam - so never, ever buy a copy from ebay. As Carl suggested, the HL2 Orange Box is good value for money if you don't already own HL2 - it comes with two additional HL2 episodes (each of which are several hours long), plus Portal (A really really cool game) and TF2 (which is a multiplayer mod/addon).
