Hi

I just got my brandnew laptop Core 2 Duo 7700, 4Gb mem and NVidia Geforce
8600GT Mobile
Hmm

But ....
Lost Coast crashes Vista completely and restarts the darn thing
Any ideas - except for the obvious (get rid of Vista)

Just a guess, it wouldnt be the 8600GT overheating? Have you tried
everything on the lowest settings, then increase them incrementally? Is
there any info in event viewer that could help diagnose?

I had an 8600GT (non mobile) until recently and am now on a 8800GTS
with a C2D 6420 and Vista and Lost Coast works without a hiccup with
all settings maxxed. Have you got all the latest drivers (especially
mobo) installed?

I'd assumed it as it's a preinstalled OS - but ... - well you never know do

My current machine is the first I've bought preinstalled. Don't
assume what's on there. Pretty sure they just have a disk image
they copy onto all the machines they assemble, and if the
computer is a model that's been around a while you'll only get
old versions of software. eg Adobe Acrobat is only version 7.xx,
but the latest is 8.x

You may also want to check for BIOS updates.

Yes and no
Yes = lower solution and be patient - sigh

Drivers are up to date etc
It's probably overheating (or Vista)

Sorry to hear that. Is it just LC or all games? HL2 works fine?
