You can get the ball into the church area. Stand on the roof with the cart
that takes you over and fire the ball high over the fence and it will roll
down the invisible barreir and through a crack in it. Gregory may shoot the
ball, but it will be fine.

You bastard.  I'm going to have to play this through again just to try
it.  Always hated that I could never get it any further than the cart to
the church.

You can take it a lot further than that. After my 2 year absence, I
recently played the game through completely, and took the ball all the
way to the meeting with the rebels after the railway tracks/sniper
section.

It's a lot of fun in Ravenholme, but it gets a pain keeping track of it
elsewhere, and in the end I was paying more attention to making sure
the ball was safe and nearby than to the game.

TBH I'd enjoy the diversion,  After playing HL2 through so many times
I'm finding there is no challenge there anymore.  Ta for the comments.

How? Water made the ball blow up on me in the mine.

It only blows up if it goes deep into the water. You need to think of a
way of keeping it near the surface...
