I still have the CDs with the Wolfenstein (Spear of Destiny), original
Doom, Doom 2 and Quake 1/2/3. Wolfenstein and Doom 1/2 could be run
only on computer with Win 98. I remember I unsuccessfully tried to run
them on a Win XP machine. I still enjoyed playing Wolfenstein and
Doom. I presume the ID put transferred them into Win XP. I wish they
would make it possible to use the capabilities of the today's more
powerful computers by allowing the better resolutions etc. If I did
not have still the CDs with the original games (and an old laptop with
Win 98), I would be very compelled to buy them.

If you own them already, you should be able to add them to your Steam
account.

I'm not sure how they'd be able to tell.. I mean, some of these games
are almost 15 years old, and certainly didn't come with CD-Key numbers
when they were new (My boxed version of Doom came on 4 or 5 floppy
disks.. most people didn't even have CD-ROM drives back then :) )
Unless it just looks for the files installed on your computer.

Yeah.. I remember when I first installed I had my Blue Shift added
somehow. I thought Steam scanned for games, but it has been so long now
I dont remember.

IIRC, Blue shift was a special case - I never bought blue shift,
although it detected my HL CD key and gave me access, purely because
Sierra royally borked up (so to speak) the cdkeys when the game was
published, so valve had no option but to grant access to BS on steam for
everyone with a valid HL key. :-)

Can you register an existing product as with HL2? I have originals of
most of the games and would love them "steamed"

some will work, some will not. I was able to add Prey to steam, but Doom
won't work, nor Call of Duty games If I remember correctly.
