A sort of follow-up, I suppose...

- F5 still quick-exits despite not being bound to anything, and despite
'quit' not being bound to any key (according to the UI, haven't checked any
config.cfg files yet)
- current weapon / player's hands still not seen, despite R_DRAWVIEWMODEL =
1

To add to the list, I've just picked up a weapon in the lasers area of the
game (think it might be a gauss gun?) which crashes HL every time I try to
fire it. Must be some hot weapon huh :)

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions folks, much appreciated.

There is no = sign in this command... It's just
R_DRAWVIEWMODEL  1

Ack, my bad, shoulda been clearer - I meant that HL reports that
r_drawviewmodel = 1 (default = "1").

Am fairly competent playing around with the console so long as I know what
variable names are worth playing with :)
