Hi,

Will one steam account work on multiple computers?  For example will it work
on both a pc and a laptop, without having to pay for the game twice?

There are some software like Norton anti virus that allow installation of
the software on up to 3 machines as long as they are all in the same
residence or something like that.  I'm just wondering if the same can happen
with steam games?

I've checked the steam support, faq and forums and the only thing I can find
similar to my query is moving the steam account to another computer not
copying.

I appreciate the piracy thing but I would like the option of playing the
game on more than one pc.

Thanks.

If you install Steam on another PC and enter your username and
passowrd it will download the games that you own on that account but
you can only log into Steam on one PC at any one time...

You can install and play all your Steam games on as many PC's as you
like (laptop or desktop).  What you cannot do is 'play' them on more
than one PC at a time i.e. you can't play a pal at Counterstrike on two
of your PC's on the same account.  Haven't tried it but I believe Steam
will detect you are trying to log in twice and will prevent it
happening... others will confirm

Yes & no:

You can use the same account on multiple computers... but not
simultaneously.  You must log out of Steam on one PC then login to it on
another.

All of your games will have to be re-downloaded from steam.

Actually, there is a way to copy just the GFC files onto another PC and
avoid all that downloading (...but the details are lengthy and I'm a
lazy-American).  Try searching for it on the Steam forums.

Not lengthy at all - Simply copy the contents of the ..\Steam\SteamApps\
folder from one PC to another (Just the .GCF files, although you can
copy the user account folders aswell if you like)

Your not that lazy as that's basically the way to do it. Install Steam.
Let it start downloading.
Stop and copy over the full GCF's from an up to date PC and restart Steam.
Oh ya and delete your clientregistry.blob file

I've done it many times.

You can use steam and singleplayer games on as many PC's as you like (not
entirely legal though)
Playing online is not possible

You will get annoying popups with steamticket expired in case you decide to
use the same account at the same time on different PC's
