I paid for the games and when I want to play them, I get a nag application
that pushes more games on me and I can't see where to start my game.
This is bullshit.

Yeah, I recommend you just format your hard drive, and then cut the power
cord to the computer.  Then you won't get irritated by the computer any
more.  Simple, eh?

Yes - that tab at the top called "My Games" probably has nothing to do
with how you might play your games?

Its all to complicated.

Give it up - you are to stupid to play computer games!!!

Stick to button mashing on a console, no, wait, smashing up the plastic
hippos at hungry hippo, or playing with traffic.

I thought it perfect fitting for the post in question. If that clown had
actually came out with a credible post asking for help in a sensible
way then I would have tried to help.

So take your rhetoric, well I'm sure you can think of the rest...

There is a way to disable this from happening.

Open STEAM.  Right click icon in tray and go to settings. Or however you get
there.

Go to messages. Uncheck the boxes that request notification of these
updates.

Try that.................

Yup, that irritated the crap out of me too. You'll hopefully have found by
now that you can make Steam show you your games first by going to File >
Settings > Interface and choosing 'Games' from the dropdown list.

Occasionally Steam will forget this setting and go back to advertising at
you when you run it, annoying but thankfully infrequent

Steam was on the blink but after some rebooting it worked. Thing is, i
looked like it was working properly, but not loggin me in, for some reason.
I was pissed because I had just bought the game and felt like I was being
f.cked around.
At any rate, I finished ep 1 very fast. Ep1 seems like about 1/4 of HL2. It
is good, but too little.

It was shorter than I expected too, and not as good as I'd hoped, but for a
fiver I cant really complain.

I thought EP1 was better than HL2. More rounded I would say, more fun.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy HL2.

Far from it.

Hmm, I dunno, i enjoyed both HL1 and 2, both HL 1 was a better game.

HL2 was a series of showing off of an engine, ep1 was a better structured
but far shorter game...

All were fun....

No, I have no point.

Yes I think it's pretty much, all of the Half-life games have been fun
so far except Blue Shift, OppFor and the other one which was so sh*t
I've banished it's name from my memory.

?! OpFor was great, it was almost as good as the original!

No you silly tattie munch foo. Oppfor and Blueshift where horrible
haphazardly thrown together poo.

Valve were lazy and they saw coin so they sold the rights to gearbox who
made a total hash of it. Look at their catalogue. Not drooling, yes
there is a reason for that. There are no good games there!

Oh ok, Aliens was kinda fun on LAN for a little while but I'm struggling....

I didn't care much for BS, but I thought OpFor was a great addon

Although Gearbox has also worked on (Mostly map design and 3D modelling)
TFC, CS and DoD.... :-p

I believe cs_backalley and de_train were both gearbox maps :)

Really enjoyed it here - especially the new adversaries - something HL2
was a little short of.

Bah, I'm out numbered. I'm tempted to take a 2nd look. Although it's not
showing in my steam catalogue because I never registered the CD.

No way in hell I'm buying it again though.

Well I can remember nothing of them. So I wonder how good they were.

No you crazy northern nukie brown drinker, OpFor was great! Some superb
moments, I distinctly remember one going down a long and very dark vent
shaft "Oh, what could be in here... oh sh.t, a snarks nest!" Very good
addon, especially given the average quality of addons at the time.

Never played Tony Hawkes Pro Skater 3 then I take it...

Hold on, I remember a vent with a snark nest in the original Half-life,
are you getting confused?

Yes and although it was kinda fun it's not something I'd come back to
time again.

Besides, I'd be an OAP skater.

There's also a vent with a snark nest in Blue Shift (plus the two nests
way down in the Chumtoad Lair, of course).

No, you're the one getting confused I think. I just googled "half-life
snarks nest" and all the results were for opposing force... AFAIR it was
in OpFor.

Well as previously mentioned I've banished Oppfor's shite'ness from my mind.

There is a snark nest in Half-life1 though. It's shortly after you
encounter multiple vortigaunts and get the use of a mounted machine gun.

/me wonders at corky's deductive logic.

I should be 1/3. Ep2 is supposed to be larger. I felt EP1 was too short
but that's be to be expected after playing HL and HL2
