Just started playing HL1 today (to take a break from HL2 where I've just
entered Nova Prospekt) and was wondering if anyone with the skill &
knowledge for these this type of thing (which lets me out :P) has ever
extracted and found the sound files used for near the beginning when you
can look into a locked room and see the G-Man and a scientist arguing,
and can at least hear the scientist's muffled voice?  If so, is it all
muffled (rather than being done in-game with distance and the wall
barrier) or can what's being said there be found out?

If what you can hear is muffled then logic dictates the orignal soundfile is
muffled.....dont see any reason why a programmer would put in a perfect
voice scene, then create another program / effect to muffle it.

I could be wrong, though I doubt it ;p

One of the new features to Half-life2 was the concept of changing the
frequency of a pre-set sound, say a bird call for example.

So instead of having a wav for bird call and bird call while underwater
Half-life2 simply considers you're underwater and changes the frequency
of the bird call sound to that of like a bird call would be underwater.

It's all very clever.

I listened for a while and here is what he says...
"If you guys on Lambda team order one more pizza with anchovies on it, I
will rig this system to cause a resonance cascade. Got that? One more
f.cking anchovie and BOOM!"
