OpFor Steam Version Jumping Bug?

I'm currently in the part where you've come up an elevator, fight off a
few Houndeyes, and have to move the little flat cart with the board so
that you can jump onto the tramp.  The problem is, I can't seem to get
enough height to get onto the low cart and there's nothing in the area
to drag over to use as a step.

Is this a known issue with the Steam version of OpFor? (thus making the
game unplayable since, even with sv_cheats 1 none of the cheats'll work,
at least for me, so I can't noclip or fly onto the cart. :/)

For HL1 and all variants, getting around the elevator bug can be a pain in
one way or another.   Using the noclip cheat to get unstuck is what I've
used for years when jumping around doesn't help.  For HL1 I used to have to
use a command line paramater to get cheats to work.  I have both the
original HL1 and OF installed and also have the Steam versions of those (and
BlueShift) installed.
Are you setting the variable correctly in the console?  Or in the startup
command line parm?

As far as I know it's just 'sv_cheats 1' in the console and then loading
a savegame or entering a new map - which I tried twice earlier, before I
posted.  But, somehow, it decided to take this time when I did it just
after reading your post - though I did nothing different. :P  Always
seems to work that way: get a problem in a game, complain publically,
then it resolves itself with you doing nothing but trying the same thing
again that's already failed. :P

Can you run sv_gravity in the single player game without turning on
cheats? That could also be very useful for those sort of scenarios...

In HL1 I found that at the start of each session I needed to set cheats on,
then also bind n 'noclip' and *after* the next big scene/chapter change
(Loading), the cheat became available.  GUess the server has to restart.
But HL-Source, it worked right away and was still active when I started
another session and loaded the saved game.

I believe he's just talking about getting onto the cart, not the
elevator bug (which BTW, does happen quite often in this scene).  To get
onto the cart, you need to crouch-jump.  The crouch-jump is used to get
up on things that are just a little bit too high for the regular jump.
If you've played any of the other HL games, you should know how to do
that.  Also, it's just as easy, maybe easier, to get on at either end,
over the little push bars.  HTH

Tried crouch jumping and jumping from the sides, over the bars.  No go.
Glad the cheat mode finally decided to work for me (no idea *why* it
gave in and started working, though, since I did nothing different than
before) so I could noclip it.

Shepherd's now just about to step out of the tram to meet Otis the
security guard (after the ambush, anyways), which will wait 'til the
next time I need a break from HL2 (currently in Ravenholm, just met
Father Gregori at the church and we're heading towards the mines) and
don't feel like Blue Shift (where Barney's just visited the Chumtoad's
Lair for the first time in HL career. BS is still my favorite of the HL
games :).

BS was knocked by many but I enjoyed it too.  Good to see Barney made it
through to the HL2+ universe - looking forward to seeing Shephard pop up
in there sometime (I hope)...

My preference would be Shepherd (who is still 'detained', after all)
being how the G-Man plans to retrieve his stolen property (Freeman) from
the Vortiguants - or at least make sure the property's of no use to
anyone else. :P  A bit cliched, I suppose, but...

Are you using the 'long jump' which also gives you height?

To long jump press duck and then jump almost immediately.

LJ module is nothing but an urban myth.

Module?  Are you talking about the training level, where the 'guide'
gives you the ability to long jump?  Of course you don't need anything
special to do it, but it does work exactly as Shawk said.  And there are
parts in the game where it is needed to continue (without cheating).

Not for Opposing Forces.  The LJ module only appears in the main HL
storyline for use with the Hazard suit.

Does it?

Heh....

I was just being silly :)

I had my terms wrong (it has been a few years) - as KCB pointed out I
meant the crouch-jump.  Whether or not it was implemented in the other
games I have successfully used it in all including the HL2 series and it
helps me get on to boxes etc.  Perhaps its a placebo-type thing that
helps me concentrate better and therefore make the jump?  Dunno but
while it continues to help I'll continue to use it...

Ok Stri, this is the relevant material you left out.  Yer wrong.  The LJM is
working just fine in HL, right from day one!   :-)

Ya shoulda said it isn't IN Opposing Force instead :)

Man, the Flying Spaghetti Monster (oh, how I long for the day he
caresses me with his noodly appendage! :) seems to be everywhere today.
:)  Hell, the first comment on The Register's story about Creationists
in Kentuckey opening a museum was about the FSM. :)

Shame on you brother!

You should know that he's always been everywhere!

Perfect way to put things into perspective.

If I remember right there are some boards on the cart.... I think you
have to jump on them or not jump on them... I remember that part and
no cheats were necessary....
