What is it with these Steam videos?

Why do I get pauses/stuttering on them?

My system can play DVDs etc. with no problems - why the problems with these?

I've seen this on Ep2 and TF2 trailers...

Hmmmph.

I think Steam uses quicktime. I would just do a generic search on the
internet for the video in question and avoid Steam entirely.

It's just the portal. (no pun intended)

Actually, I found the videos in the C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\media\
folder and they're all .wmv files, so it's not Quicktime. Must be something
up with my system though, coz Media Player 9 and Winamp both play them
pretty terribly too...

Sounds like a codec problem.  Have you installed anything lately that
might have replaced codecs or bolloxed existing codecs?

Hmm, I thought it was quicktime. Can't think what I'm mixing that up.
Maybe Itunes
