Mine arrived this morning. Only played an hour (beer is calling) but so
far so great! I think it's a 'Stalker' afternoon tomorrow. Have a look
in csipga - lots of conversation there.

To the point that my g/f is seriously considering and
interdiction.....

Been playing about 3 hours now. Mission based Shooter/RPG.
Reminiscent of IGI 2 with the vast environment to roam in. AI is very good,
and enemies are well armored as it takes several shots to kill from the
basic pistol.. Shots from a long distance appear to have no effect at all.
Attacks need to be planned. Sneaking up helps, but they are difficult to
surprise. You get a "noise meter" so you know much you can be heard, but
it's very difficult to move without making a sound, even crouched.
Graphics are quite nice. They have created a very foreboding
atmosphere that feels real. Weather effects were good, but trying to battle
during rain and thunder, when you need to hear the enemy, is very hard.
Some of the lightning didn't look all that good.
All the background dialog is Russian. The main dialog in English is
pretty well voice acted.
Have experienced no crashes yet, although this has been widely reported
to be a problem Have all video features maxed on my FX60 , 2 GB Ram, 7900
GTX, including anisotropic and AA..
Dogs are a PITA, and reloading is painfully slow. And, when offered to
option to go in alone on the first mission -- don't even think about it!

I agree, nice to see a good bleak environment, and that first mission is a
nightmare if attempted alone. I am running mine on my XP64 system with 3Gb
ram, and an X1900XT, AMD 4000, and have experienced no problems at all.
Loading is slow, but that gives me a chance to relax for a bit before
resuming hunting!
