Half-Life 2 on multiple monitors

I just got multiple monitors hooked up on my system and wanted to take
advantage of it in my games.  Most of what I have seen so far says
that only the "primary" monitor can be the one used to play the game,
but I was hoping to use both of them for a more cinematic experience.
Is this possible?

If not, is it possible to have the game automatically disable the
monitor so my mouse does not wander over to the other side and then
drop me back to windows.

thanks,
K

HL2 does not do this unless it's generating its own mouse cursor (at the
"new game" menu, for example). Where the mouse is controlling the player
movement, rather than a pointer, HL2 does not "lose focus" to windows.

If your graphics driver supports it, you can spread the desktop across two
monitors (e.g. the resolution goes from 2 @ 1024x768 to 1 @ 2048x768).

Remember that your crosshair will be at the far left of one monitor and the
far right of the other. It will look bloody awful.

Thank you for the help and advice.  I guess if I had a couple nice
flat screens, where the borders are pretty thin, then the distance
betwen the HUD might not matter too much.  As it stands, it probably
would be pretty bad.  I just wanted a more cinematic experience for
the "Water Hazard" section.  My favorite because it's so fun!

This is a good idea.

If you really like the idea, try a triplehead arrangement. It would have to
be a new graphics card that supports it, otherwise you won't get the
spanning, but that way you'd keep your crosshair in the middle of the centre
screen.

I've got two identical, thin-border LCDs. Overlapping their borders would
still leave me with 1cm of separation at the middle of the screen - too much
for comfortable gameplay, IMO.

This might help:
